“Kind of poetic that Chelsea is the one that killed her,” I go on like he didn’t speak. “Stabbed her right through the neck.”

“MOTHERFUCKER!” Charlie bellows, jerking like hell. “I’m going to haunt you from the fucking grave.”

Gray picks a knife up and spins it around, letting it reflect off the light. “We wanted to drag this out. Make you suffer for everything that you’ve done. But we realized that the only thing that matters is that you’re dead.”

I watch hope bloom in Charlie’s eyes that this is going to be quick, but I squash it. “We’re still going to make you suffer, don’t worry about that. But the only thing on my mind is going upstairs and kissing my woman.”

“You sold yourself out for her! You could have been a God in this world!”

“He is,” Gray says. “All you have to do is say his name, and people cower in fear.” Gray lays a knife against the side of Charlie’s face. “They don’t even remember who you are.” Gray cuts slowly, slicing the skin right off. Charlie locks his lips shut, refusing to make a sound.

I pull my knife from my sheath and slice Charlie’s shirt open. “The same thing with the name Reaper. You have two sons that scare the shit out of people, and you have what? A dead girlfriend, a dead whatever Brady was, a compound that’s nothing but ash, and no way out but straight to hell.” I slice right across his chest, begging him with my eyes to scream.

“What do you have? A fat whore of a—” That’s all he gets out. I pry his mouth open, Gray lays his knife against his tongue and slices it off. Charlie finally screams, but it comes out muffled from all the blood.

Gray holds it up between us. “That’s one way to shut him up.” He lets it plop on Charlie’s bare stomach, and we watch him recoil in disgust.

We look at each other and start laughing. None of this is funny, but it’s like a change in the atmosphere that we need. We take turns, slicing skin off of Charlie. Cole, Sean, and Kai step in, taking their turns. We stay down in the basement for hours, letting him feel an ounce of the pain we’ve felt because of him. When he passes out, one of us wakes him back up. Finally, his body goes into shock, and I know we don’t have much longer.

I lay my knife down and lean down to look into his eyes. “I know you’re expecting a big speech, but I don’t care enough to give you one. I just have something to tell you again.” I lean down beside his ear. “I won,” I whisper before raising my knife and delivering the final blow. Straight through his heart.

A sense of peace immediately surrounds me, and I feel it pulsing through the room. There’s no more Charlie or Brady. No more shady as fuck friends. No more enemies beating down the door. It’s just my brother, my family, and the extended one that I’ve gained along the way. Now it’s time to find our future wife.

Because today is the first day of the rest of our lives.

Epilogue

NOLAN

6 WEEKS LATER

After the aftermath with Charlie, we took Chelsea to the most deserted island we could find. We stayed there for two weeks, just basking in the fact that we could finally live our lives. It took us some time to fix all the shit Charlie fucked up by making her believe that Sean was betraying us. But once we did, we were on the path to the rest of our lives.

Tonight, we decided to come to High Flyer while Chelsea is out with Bridget, Les, and Evie. The bar is packed, but tomorrow, we’re finally going to put our proposal into action. We were going to do it while we were away, but it felt right to do it in Forest Grove. The place we’ve decided to call home.

I order another drink from the bartender, Jason, and he slides it to me. Gavin walks up beside me, and I can’t believe the progress that he’s made. He finally started physical therapy to gain his strength back, and he’s been unstoppable since. He doesn’t have full use of that arm yet, but he’s getting there quickly. Axel said that as soon as he’s cleared, he can start training with the Saviors. He’s now permanently on Ari’s team, and even though they give him shit, he’s fit in nicely. Baxter and Roland decided to take some time off after Charlie, not that we blame them. They know Chelsea is safe with us.

“Well, hello there,” a feminine voice purrs, and I look to my left. I give her a polite smile and turn back to the bar. “I haven’t seen you here before. What’s your name?”

“Nolan,” I answer without asking hers. “And I’m taken.”

She pouts her lips. “That’s a shame. I don’t see anyone. Who would leave you here alone?”

“I’m not alone.” I catch Gavin’s eyes, asking for help, but the asshole grins and walks away.Shit.I’m not good with this. I don’t have it in me to be mean.

“Whoever it is, they sure are lucky.” She goes to run her hand down my arm, but before she can, I feel an arm wrap around my waist.

“I’m the lucky one,” Axel says, pulling me against his chest. “You might want to walk away.”

“Oh…I…He…” she stammers and quickly walks away.

I burst out laughing. “She was flustered.”

“She was about to be worm food.” Axel turns me around in his arms and puts my arms around his neck. He starts swaying to the music, and I get lost in his eyes. With Charlie gone, Axel’s a completely different person. He jokes, laughs, and loves hard. He can still be an asshole, but it’s a part of him that we love.

“What are you doing?” I ask breathlessly.

“Loving on my Naughty boy.” He kisses down my neck, causing me to shiver. “Dance with me?”
