“He will now that Kai fucked up his nose,” Nolan adds.

“I can’t speak for us all, but I don’t want to go anywhere. It’s something we can work out as we go.” She nods, seemingly happy with that answer. “Kai agreed to Dex coming to talk to him.”

Chelsea’s eyes widen. “He did?”

“Yeah, after his failed experiment with Cole. Dex will know what he’s feeling that we don’t understand.”

“He said it’s like his skin is too tight,” Chelsea whispers, her bottom lip starting to wobble.

I rub my thumb across it. “Kai is one of the strongest people I know. If anyone can overcome this again, it’s him.”

Nolan sits up to look at me. “How the hell did Charlie even figure that out? No one even knows the Saviors took him. For all they know, he’s just another victim of the streets.”

“It could just be a coincidence,” Chelsea suggests.

I shake my head. “Nothing with Charlie is a coincidence. He knew exactly how to handle Kai.”

“Kai came after Charlie was already gone, right?” Chelsea asks.

“Yeah. Sean too.”

“Could you have missed someone loyal to Charlie that he used for information?”

“It’s possible. Cole and I were young as hell when we took over, and a lot of mistakes were made. But the only Saviors left are the ones you know.”

“They could still be out there,” Nolan comments. “Do you have the names of the old members anywhere?”

“They’re on a flash drive at the other house.”

“We get that tomorrow, and I’ll run some names. See if I can come up with anything, then we can go from there. Maybe they can lead us to Charlie or at least give us an idea of where to start.”

I shrug and pull Chelsea against my chest. “Sounds good to me.”

“You’re very agreeable now, Captain peg leg.” I lean up and look at Nolan. Chelsea’s trying her best not to laugh but loses the battle.

“Aargh, Matey,” Chelsea laughs. “He just needs an eyepatch.”

“Oh! And a hook!”

“I don’t like either one of you.”

“You love me.” Chelsea’s eyes get wide when she realizes what she just said. We used to say it all the time as kids, but it has a whole different meaning now.

“Yes, I do, Cupcake. I always have.”

“Me too,” she whispers.

Nolan gives us the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face, happy for us.

Someday I’ll be able to tell him that I feel the same for him.

Chapter11

Sean

“Ijust want you to know that this sucks donkey dick, monkey balls, and whatever other colorful way I can come up with to let you know that I hate this,” I tell my physical therapist, Mia. She has me lying flat on my back, holding my legs up from the floor using nothing but my muscles.

It’s been a week since we started, and I hate every minute of it. We decided it was safer for me to do this at home, and for the first couple of weeks, it’s going to be five days a week. Good thing she doesn’t take any of my shit.
