“You’ll get there, Kai. She’s never going to give up helping you.”
“I want to know how Charlie even fucking knew about that.”
“Axel said that Vivian finally agreed to talk to us. We’re headed there later.” After Nolan brought it up, we’ve been digging through old Saviors files to see who was still alive. So far, he’s only found two, and one of them is locked up in a state penitentiary. When Axel originally called Vivian, she wasn’t ready to see anyone yet, and we didn’t blame her. If she went through what Chelsea did, she endured it for over twenty years. “You want to go?”
“No,” I say in a rush. “Cars are too much like cages.”
“You can’t just stay here all the time.”
“Until I figure out a way past this, yes, I can.”
Sean lays there in silence for a minute, then sits up. “What about a motorcycle?”
“Ours are at the other house.” Even as I argue, excitement courses through me. On a motorcycle, there’s nothing constricting around me. As long as I can handle the helmet. “How would we even get them?”
“Axel can drive Cole and me over to get them. See? Easy. We haven’t ridden in forever.” I nod, and he jumps to his feet. He comes rushing at me like he’s going to hug me and stops, holding up his hands. “Sorry. Habit.”
After I get my heart rate back under control, I get to my feet. “It’s fine.”
Sean laughs. “You were about to knock my ass out.”
“It’s a reflex, asshole.”
We walk back into the house and go in search of Axel. He and Cole are sitting on the back patio by the pool. “They still going at it?” Sean asks with a laugh.
Axel leans back in his chair and blows out a breath. “They were when we came outside. He’s got stamina, I’ll give him that.”
“He’s between Chelsea’s pretty, creamy white thighs. Of course, he has stamina.”
“Shut up, Sean,” Axel growls.
“Aw. What’s the matter, Axel? Your dick hard?”
Axel moves before Sean can register it and wraps his arm around Sean’s neck in a headlock. “Keep running that mouth, and you can find out the hard way when I shove it down your throat.”
“Just my throat?” Sean wheezes. “I was hoping you would say up my ass. I’ve been wanting to get a taste of that cock.”
“Goddamnit, Sean.” Axel pushes him away and flops back into his chair. “What are you two up to, anyway?”
“We made a makeshift shooting range out back. But I had an idea.” Axel raises a brow because Sean’s ideas aren’t always the most sane. “Kai can’t ride in cars right now, but he can’t sit around here all the time. So, I need you to take me and Cole over to the other house to get the bikes.”
Axel shrugs. “I don’t see a problem with that. Are you sure you can ride with your,” Axel gestures vaguely at Sean’s legs, “condition?”
“Condition? You make it sound like I have an STD. Yes. They’re stronger than ever since I started therapy, and I’m taking my meds. No need to worry about me, Daddy.”
Cole snorts a laugh when Axel growls under his breath. “You do sound like his Daddy.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Axel says and stands up. “Let’s go get the bikes. Kai, are you good with protection detail? Baxter and Roland are here too.”
“Yeah. But I have a request for Baxter and Roland. Can I have Nolan dig into them?”
“You don’t need my permission, Kai. Can I ask why?”
“A feeling.” I can’t explain it, but everyone around her now makes me suspicious ever since we found out about Charlie planting Brady in Chelsea’s life. “I could be totally off base, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.”
“Go for it. It’s not a bad idea. While you’re at it, have him run Amber.”
“The best friend?” Sean asks in confusion.
