“It hasn’t been that long,” she says quietly.

“I know.” I sigh and kiss her knuckles. I look around the living room at my team, thankful as fuck they’re still here. Kai looks more like himself since he doesn’t have that haunted look in his eyes. Cole is reclined back in the chair by the window, scrolling through his phone and laughing at something with Nolan. Sean is sitting on Chelsea’s other side, twirling a piece of her hair around his finger.Thisis what we’ve all been missing. A sense of true family didn’t come along until Chelsea did. I can’t wait to rid this world of Brady and Charlie so we can truly start living our lives.

I blow out a breath. “While we’re waiting, I have something to say.” All eyes turn to me. “First, I want to say thank you. For putting up with my shit, for making me see the bigger picture, and giving me another chance to prove that I’m still the man I was when you joined the Saviors.” I look at Chelsea. “Thank you for forgiving me and accepting this group into your home.”

Chelsea’s eyes start to tear up. “Not just my home, but you’re all in my heart.”

I nod and kiss her cheek. “Which brings me to the next thing. When this is over, where do you want this to go? I’m in one hundred percent, Cupcake.”

“Same here, Ladybug.”

“You know where I stand, Gorgeous.”

“You’re it for me, Dragonfly.”

Chelsea’s eyes lock with Nolan’s, and he softly smiles. “I’m not going anywhere, Lovie.”

She looks around the room, taking in her new found family. “I’m in. Will you guys stay here?”

“We’ll stay wherever you want us to, Gorgeous. You want a different house? You got it. You want to stay in this one? I’m game. You want to move to Hawaii? Let’s fucking go.”

“His point is,” I laugh, “we’ll go wherever you are.”

“We can figure it out as we go,” she answers with a smile.

My phone chimes and I open Les’ text screen.

Les

I didn’t want to do it like this, but Gavin passed away about an hour ago.

Even though I know it’s fake, my heart still skips a beat. We agreed we needed to keep everything in messages to make it look like Gavin really died.

Holy shit, Les. How’s Ghost?

I look at everyone. “It’s time. Let’s roll.” We each give Chelsea a kiss goodbye, and I stop to kiss Nolan. Sean takes this opportunity to kiss him again, and I shake my head at Sean’s shit-eating grin when Nolan groans.

“Please be careful!” Chelsea calls out when we’re almost to the garage.

“Always will, Cupcake.” We start strapping on bulletproof vests and head to the back gate so we can get to the SUV we had stashed. We don’t want anyone seeing us actually leave the property, and Nolan already made sure the footage wouldn’t show it just in case someone is watching. We scale the fence, and when we drop to the other side, I check my phone one last time.

Les

Devastated. They said it was complications from the collapsed lung. They tried to intubate him, but it was too late. Ghost went home about ten minutes ago.

“She said Ghost went home about ten minutes ago, so that means they’re ten minutes out,” I relay. We start moving at a fast clip down the hill behind Chelsea’s house. We slide into the SUV, and Kai takes a deep breath before closing his door. I jerk it into drive and head toward the main road that is on the other side of the treeline. I hand my phone to Kai. “Tell her we send our condolences so she knows we’re on our way.” He nods and types out the message.

We pull into the safehouse and see the ambulance coming down the winding driveway. Les and Ryder step out of the front in full paramedic gear. “That’s a new look,” Sean jokes.

Ryder pulls at the thighs of the pants. “These are tight as fuck.”

“That’s because you have tree trunks for thighs,” Les responds. Gray and Mateo climb out from the back. They pull the gurney out to reveal a very pale looking Gavin.

“Hey, man,” I greet. “You know the dying thing is fake, right?”

He laughs weakly. “Yeah, but that ride fucking hurt.”

“Doc will be here in a few minutes with pain meds and everything you need,” Les says. “Let’s get him inside.”
