Axel pulls Chelsea closer and runs his fingers through her hair. “You know we’ll never let that happen again, right?”
She smiles and pecks his lips. “I know. What do we do now?”
“I’m so fucking proud of you, Cupcake.” He kisses her gently and pulls back with a sigh. “Can you call and check on Gavin?”
I pull out my phone, and he answers on the second ring. “What’s up?”
“Everything good your way?”
Gavin chuckles. “The Monster Twins are on high alert. I’m good.”
“We’ll be sending Ari and his team back your way soon. Charlie is stepping up his game.”
“Thanks for the warning.”
“Are you armed?”
“Yep. Ari made sure before he left.”
“Good. We’ll talk soon.”
“Okay.”
“I think it’s time that you look at moving to a safe house,” Ari says when I hang up. “They got damn close tonight.”
“I disagree,” Cole says, sitting up and leaning his arms on the table. “Charlie will be anticipating that, so we need to make himthinkwe moved to a safe house.”
“How do we do that?” Nolan asks.
“Let us figure it out because I think Cole is right,” Axel adds. “Go back to Gavin, and I’ll let you know what I come up with.”
Ari is right. They did get too damn close to us tonight. If we wouldn’t have set up the perimeter alarms, they would have gotten inside.
It’s time they remember how the Saviors operate.
Chapter20
Cole
I’ve been thinking of a way to trick Charlie into thinking we moved to a safe house all day. The only problem is, when he realizes we didn’t, he's going to come back after us. Which brings us back to the point we are actually going to have to move to a safe house, just not the one he thinks. If it were just us here, we’d stay and fight it out. But since Chelsea is here too, we can’t take that chance. And something tells me none of us want to take that chance with Nolan either.
I pull out the burner phone we have to discuss business and call Holden on his. “Hello?” he answers.
“Hey, it’s Cole.” I lay out what we need done, and I can already hear him typing.
“So, essentially, you need one safe house for them to destroy and another to actually stay in?”
“Yeah.”
“You need to call Lex or D. They might have blown up their old house, but they left the cabin that sits on the property. According to them, it’s the only good memory they have there. Anyway, it’s small but liveable, and it’s surrounded by a huge ass fence. I’ll start looking for the fake one.”
“Thanks, Holden.”
“No problem. How’s Nolan doing?”
“He’s great, man. We’d be lost without him, but he doesn’t have the ins and outs of the safe houses yet.”
“No big deal. After this is over, I’ll give him my resources. I heard he hacked into the hospital’s databases?” I can hear the pride in Holden’s voice, and it makes me smile.
