Before Axel can make it to him, Ari’s laughing his ass off and shutting the door. “One of these days, I’m going to kill him,” Axel grouches.

Chelsea wraps her arms around his neck. “I don’t plan on adding anyone else. So stop scowling. Your face is going to get stuck like that.”

Axel grabs two handfuls of her ass and pulls her against him. “One of these days, Cupcake, I’m going to bend you over and turn your ass red for that mouth.”

“You weren’t complaining about my mouth when it was wrapped around your cock.” With a grin, she steps away and saunters from the kitchen.

“Fuck, I love her,” Axel says hoarsely.

I couldn’t agree more.

Chapter23

Axel

I’ve been on some sketchy missions, but none of them have scared me like this one has. This could go so many different ways, and I have no way of figuring them all out. Not that I haven’t twisted myself in knots to do just that. Chelsea is the most important part of this mission, and I refuse to lose her again, even if I have to lay my own life on the line.

Les and her guys pull in a couple of minutes after Ari leaves. I lead them into the office with Nolan to get a more solid plan while Chelsea is with Cole and Kai.

“Is everything in place?” I ask.

Les nods. “Yeah. Zane, Hart, and Banger are in place. Ghost, Caden, and the twins are waiting on word for the diversion. Micah, Van, and Mateo are waiting for you guys in Abbs Valley. We brought a burner SUV for you guys to leave in.”

I hand Les the keys to my new truck and Chelsea’s Challenger. “Both of those have been tagged, I’m sure. But please don’t fuck up Chelsea’s car. If anything happens, sacrifice the truck.”

Les laughs and hands the Challenger keys to Ryder. “If anyone can get that car out of harm’s way, it’s Ryder. You have a solid plan, Axel.”

“I’ve been watching since Les got here, and there’s been no movement out there. So I think that means Charlie isn’t aware of the hidden access road,” Nolan says.

“It’s a damn good design,” Gage comments. “I thought Ryder was driving us into a fucking fence.”

“That’s the point, dumbass,” Ryder laughs.

Gage flips him the middle finger. “I was just saying it was smart. No need to hurt my feelings.”

“The plan is for us to go out the front, wait for them to follow, and then you guys go out the back?” Leo asks.

I nod. “Yeah. I just need a signal. But this doesn’t mean he’s not going to pick up on the switch.” I rake my fingers through my hair, trying to get my nerves under control. “Normally, we would pull this off without question, but Chelsea will be in that car. I refuse to be the reason something happens to her.”

“If you don’t feel right with this plan, we can think of something else,” Les offers.

“No. He sent sixteen guys to try and ambush us. It’s not safe here anymore.”

“Lex and crew made sure that the cabin is stocked. Weapons, ammunition, basic medical supplies, food,” Gage pauses with a grin, “lube.” I watch Nolan’s face turn red all the way to his ears, and of course, Gage doesn’t miss it. “I’m proud of you, Holden 2.0, for bagging the entire Saviors group. Damn proud.”

“Shut up, Gage,” Nolan groans. “Can we get back to the plan?”

“For now. But just know, I have lots of questions.”

“Of course you do,” Les says dryly. “Anyway, the cabin is actually three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. It’s smaller than you’re used to but comfortable.”

“It will be fine,” I assure her. “I don’t plan on this lasting much longer.”

“Do you have a plan for Charlie yet or the piece of shit ex?” Dex asks.

“I’m going to have to draw Charlie out because he won’t come at me head-on. He’s never here when we get attacked.”

“He’s scared,” Ryder adds. “He knows he doesn’t stand a chance since you guys got away. Have you guys found the leak yet?”
