He nodded and plucked the largest bottle from the selection. The second security guard popped open a shiny black compartment, revealing dazzling crystal glasses I’d only seen in magazines.

As Zack poured me a drink, he flashed my necklace a glance, his eyes lingering there for a while.

My hand shot up to it, and I realized the necklace was neatly tucked in my cleavage, just like it always had been with mom.

“It’s bad enough you want to screw me. Don’t get hot on me because I remind you of my mother,” I said.

He laughed and handed me my drink. “Relax, will you? I wasn’t thinking of her, and I never slept with her. Don’t be gross.”

I snorted a laugh. Oh, sothatwas the line he wouldn’t cross.

The heavy aromas from the golden whiskey drifted up and kissed my nose.Oh man.I brought it to my lips and ventured a sip. My eyelashes fluttered and a moan escaped my throat as the delicious silk slid across my tongue.

Both security guards fidgeted, but Zack leaned in with a smile, his own whiskey on his breath. “So,” Zack said, “you like ten thousand dollar whiskey. Why am I not surprised?”

I glared and finished off my glass, enjoying the creeping warmth that spread through my chest.

Zack offered me a refill, but I declined. No one was sexy plastered—not even me.

Ileaned my head back on the cold headrest and watched the girls dance on the TV. The whiskey burning in my belly made it seem as if the cabin swirled and I was dancing with them as I rolled my head side to side with the beat.

The moment burst as Zack’s phone buzzed obnoxiously against the seat, sounding like a dentist’s drill searing into my brain.

I lifted my head to glare at him, but he was staring at the screen as if he wasn’t sure if he should answer. Then he bit his lip—cripes that’s cute—and tapped the screen before pressing it to his ear.

“Yeah. She’s with me,” he said and shot me a glance.

“Who is it?” I mouthed.

He shook his head and swatted me away.

“Really?” he asked the caller, his eyes going wide.

I pinched his knee and he flicked off my fingers with an agitated glare.

“Should I tell her?” he asked.

“Tell me what?” I snapped and Zack pressed the phone against his chest and shushed me.

He lifted the phone to his ear again. “Okay. No. I’ll text you the address. Yeah, we’ll meet up tomorrow.”

He tapped the side of the phone and it offered a click. Then Zack considered his glass, took a generous sip, and slouched into his seat.

I narrowed my eyes to slits. “Who was that?”

He tossed his phone, letting it somersault before catching it in mid-air. “Sarah,” he said casually.

I lurched across the short expanse of the cabin and latched onto his knees. “What’d she say? Where is she?”

He chuckled. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” He swiftly spread his legs and I tumbled face-first into his groin.

I lurched back with a snarl as he bellowed with laughter and sloshed his whiskey. “Aw, don’t make me spill this liquid gold, girl. If you wanted a taste all you had to do was ask.” He offered me a sly grin and even the security guards smothered their laughter.

“This isn’t a game,” I snapped and glared at all of them.

Zack wiped the tears from his eyes. “Relax, all right? Sarah is working her magic until you can get the Blood Stone.”

I crossed my arms and slumped. “If Anderson can resist me, what makes her think he won’t resist her?”
