The answer came with a burning heat that spread across my chest. Luke’s passion flooded into me and this time, I couldn’t help but groan with the sensation of his pleasure. His lust, no matter how forced, still found its way through my body and filled my Blood Stone, bringing it back to the fullness of life. Luke could power my necklace, and for some reason, the Incubus King wanted that to happen.

After a shower and a very, tender, moment of healing my raw skin with power borrowed from my Blood Stone, I wrapped a towel around my chest and made my way to Nate.

He was waiting for me in the bedroom, his face red with shame and anger. I’d never seen him like that before, and for a moment lost my resolve to rip him a new asshole.

“What the fuck was that?” I demanded.

Nate refused to look me in the eye. He stared at a spot on the wall and the muscles on his jaw rippled as he clenched his teeth.

I stomped to his side and gripped his chin, forcing him to look at me. His eyes were pained and it was difficult for me to keep his gaze. “Nate, I need to know what’s going on.” To my surprise, my words were softer than I’d intended.

He peeled my hand from his face and wrapped his fingers through mine. His gaze fell to my necklace. “The angel would never have charged the Blood Stone for you without our intervention,” he whispered.

I stiffened. “You know what he is?”

He nodded. “Derek told me.”

Which meant he’d known all along who and what Luke was.

I growled and curled my arms over my breasts as I sat beside him on the bed, taking my turn to stare at the wall. “Why didn’t Derek just charge it himself?”

Nate scoffed. “He’d need Silvia for that. And she wants nothing to do with him until Lilith has returned.”

I peered at him from the corner of my eye. “The Demonspawn?”

He nodded. “Yes.” He lowered and stared at his hands. “Your daughter.”

I sighed. “Look, I don’t know why he found it necessary toforceLuke to fuck me. That was just messed up.” I narrowed my eyes. “He’s… important to me. I’m supposed to have sex with him, but not like that. I didn’t like it.”

He rubbed his forehead. “I’m sorry, Sonya. If there’d been another way—”

I punched him on the arm and he grunted. “Another way? Therewasanother way! And why does he give two shits if I have a charged Blood Stone or not?”

He growled and shot to his feet. “Look, you proved that you can help him create Demonspawn. He wants more.” A shiver overtook his body. “He wants a fucking army.”

End of the World

Luke

Pissed wasn’t a strong enough word to describe how I felt. After finally gathering my uncles and luring Sonya to the bunker, I’d still lost everything.

I rapped the chain of my handcuff across the bed frame and tried not to let the rising panic take hold. After years of torture and imprisonment by one certified nutso named Detective Anderson, my mind was having a field day sending memories fluttering through flattened scars. I couldn’t help but relive the agony of Anderson’s blades slicing me open, his forceps ripping out my organs… his hand extracting my heart.

A soft hand brought me back to reality with a jolt. “Hey,” a female voice whispered, soothing me.

I blinked and thought it’d be Sonya standing over me. The soft, sensual voice was so much like hers, and her touch genuine and kind. But when I saw those red-rimmed irises framed with green staring back, I reeled against my chains.

She lurched away from me, hurt flashing on her face. “Hey,” she said again, this time the lilt in self-defense. “I’m not going to hurt you.”

She hadn’t sounded like this at the church. Perhaps the holy ground had damaged her voice box just like it’d sent boils across her skin. Or, perhaps, it exposed what she really was.

I snarled and she backed all the way to the window. “I’m not going to fall for your tricks,” I snapped. She was going to curl her fingers over her elbows and act all innocent?

“There’s no trick,” she insisted. The sun supported her argument, filtering in its rays and making the green overtake the red in her eyes. With her round face, midnight curls, and bombshell boobs, she could have easily been a girl to fall in love with, not a hell-bound demon.

Sympathy filtered into her gaze. “I’m sorry for what my father is doing to you. I’d hoped to get Sonya away from him before he came.” She frowned. “I didn’t know I’d need to protect you, too.”

I strained against my constraints and my wrist fought against the blister trying to form, my body continually healing. I wasn’t going to question why this demon seemed to be on our side. Perhaps it was a trick, perhaps not. Regardless, she could give me answers. “What’s the Incubus King planning?”
