I opened my eyes as her shadows writhed and burned, taking the witch along with them until only the small shard of the Blood Stone she’d traded her soul for remained.
I plucked it off the ground that smoldered with embers, turned on my heel, and dragged Derek with me to the portal out of hell.
Epilogue
Sonya
I couldn’t just leaveDerek there, not after I’d truly forgiven him. In his fucked up way, I think he tried to be a good guy. He’d only wanted to live out in the open instead of hiding in the shadows. I couldn’t blame him for that, but I could never approve of his methods. I had to remember who he was and how long he’d been a part of this world. Living hundreds of years warped one’s sense of morality, and perhaps I took it upon myself to remind him of his humanity. Or, at least, I knew the perfect person who could.
“No fucking way,” Nate barked and crossed his broad arms over his chest.
I made sure to get alone time with all of my guys. This week was Nate’s turn and I slipped my fingers over his arms, unfurling his defense, and slipped into his embrace. My lips teased against his and I pressed him against the wall of our oversized bedroom. A kingsized bed with tousled sheets invited us to delve into it again, but I wanted him on my terms. He wasn’t going to bend me over and make me forget what I needed him to do, so I pinned him and ran my fingers over his chest as I breathed in his must.
He strained against me, not able to get me off of him even if he actually wanted to. He knew he was mortal and I most certainly was not, but his eyes gleamed with delight and confidence. His gaze raked over me and the new tattoos that spread over my body. I was the Queen of Hell now, but I wasn’t going to hurt him. I had added padding to this particular room for when Nate and I got together, just to make sure I didn’t damage my favorite human when the fun got too rough. I didn’t know how much control I had over my new powers.
Nate stiffened as my hips grated against his. “If you’re trying to seduce me to get your way,” he began as he eyes flared with mischief, “then show me you mean it.”
He knew I was holding back. I trailed a finger up his neck and gazed longingly at his pulsing vein. Two tiny pink dots on his delicate skin showed where I’d marked him once already earlier today. My bite gave pleasure, and also healing. My other guys lost their marks in a matter of seconds, but Nate’s body indulged my claim for at least a day. He was mine and his blood tasted more delicious than any I’d ever had, although I’d never admit that to anyone, and I’d especially never admit that to Nate. His ego was bad enough already now that he’d conquered his envy over supernatural races. “Your father can be redeemed; I’m sure of it,” I murmured and then followed my tongue where my finger had been. When I got to the edge of his chin, I gave him a playful nip, not breaking the skin. I’d gotten better at controlling my vampiric urges and I strung out the promise of sex and the pleasure of my bite for hours. It drove Nate insane and I loved it.
Nate had been about to retort, but the sensual caresses made him growl and he shoved a leg between my thighs, spreading me open as he grabbed me with undeniable possession. Pressure radiated from my core as he rolled his fingers over my folds, the separation between us just a thin layer of my favorite lingerie. “The Queen of Hell,” he teased as he nipped at my ear, “has a soft spot. Who would have thought?” He rubbed again, hard, winning a cry from me. Impatient, he ripped away the thin fabric and thrust two fingers inside of me.
“Not yet,” I pleaded, but pleasure already swept through me and threatened to take me under.
“I’ve let you have your fun,” he growled in my ear and ruthlessly thrust his fingers inside of me again. He used his free hand to hold my ass close to him as he pummeled me with pleasure. “Now it’s time for mine.”
My nails dug into his shoulders as the hardness of him pressed against my thigh. I wanted to reach for him and feel his supple skin across my fingertips. I moved a hand to his waistband but he squeezed me against him and kept my hand pinned on his chest. “I could overpower you,” I threatened, but my words cut short when he rolled his thumb over the nub of my clit and made me gasp.
“What if I’ve been letting you think I’m weak?” he mused before pressing his lips to mine. He thrust his tongue into my mouth and I opened for him, wanting to taste him.
Pride, a sin I might have forgiven but never quite overcome, swelled in me and I did try to push him away then. I wanted to grab his cock and make him submit to me, but when I pushed against him, I realized… I couldn’t move out of his grip.
He grinned against my mouth and resumed working his fingers inside of me, rolling pleasure with his strong strokes. “Had you fooled, didn’t I?” he whispered, then took me by surprise as he rushed me across the room with undeniableinhumanspeed and slammed me against the wall. The padding split against the blow at my back and I gasped. He ripped away my underwear and pulled out his cock before thrusting it inside of me. He didn’t wait for my body to accept him. He pulled out and slammed in hard, taking me with the force and domination of a dragon.
That’s when I spotted the dim red light behind his eyes. I’d recognize that power anywhere. “Are you… borrowing Jet’s power?” I managed to gasp as he slammed into me again and choked off anything else I had to say.
He took my hand and ran it across the runes of my stomach, stopping when I reached Jet’s. It blazed with heat. “Our bond has never been stronger,” he told me. “I feel all of them.” He grinned. “I hope Jet is alone right now, because he is feeling everything I am. You belong to us, Sonya, and we will share the pleasure you give us.”
When he sucked one of my nipples into his mouth and rolled the other with his thumb, I relented and threw my head back, letting him take me.
I only felta little guilty after the best night of sex with Nate I’d ever had. If Jet had really felt that pleasure, I most certainly hoped that he hadn’t been doing anything important at the time.
Of course, he’d been in the middle of an elaborate meeting involving dragon politics and had been around some of the most esteemed and wealthy scaly shifters in China. Safely in our penthouse, his glare held so much venom and desire that I fidgeted. I never fidgeted.
“I said I was sorry,” I offered as I crossed my leg over my knee, trying to look nonchalant and unapologetic. The facade might have held had I not just uncrossed and crossed my legs three times since I’d arrived.
I’d only just come through the portal that Xavier’s witches had set up for us. It glittered its ruby promises of refuge at the end of the long bedroom, but I glowered at the amused vampire who watched me through it, safe and sound in Venice. Xavier waited there until I finally huffed a sigh and marched over to it and drew the drapes from my side of the portal. Was a little privacy too much to ask? I knew Xavier worried about me. Jet could be dangerous, but I could take care of myself.
As much as Jet was angry with me, I was glad that I could see him again. My guys all had their own lives, but there was no way I could stay apart from any of them for long. The most sensible solution was to use magic, of course. Deep in the tunnels under Venice was the vampire stronghold, which I now commanded second to Hades. I was Xavier’s bondmate and Queen of Hell, which gave me enough clout to use the power of the Blood Stone to make permanent portals to bedrooms across the world. Nate’s room in Detroit. Luke’s room in Seattle. And, of course, Jet’s room in the penthouse at Shanghai where we’d first made love.
When I turned around, Jet had gotten closer. His heat radiated off his body and made the air twist around him. I rolled my eyes. “I’m getting a drink. Want one?” When he didn’t reply, I shoved past him and poured myself a glass from the bar. I leaned back against it and swirled the ice cubes. I needed alcohol to handle Jet’s amount of rage right now. His lust fogged the room and made me dizzy, but his tattoos swirled over his arms and told me that said I’d better not push him right now if I wanted to keep my head.
Jet narrowed his eyes as I took a delicate sip. “I went full-on erect in front of an entire room of dragon shifters and fuckingmoaned.”
I spit out my drink, successfully sending it everywhere. I should have apologized or tried to look a little bit sorry. Instead, I smothered a laugh behind my hand. “Holy shit,” I muttered.
Jet glowered and wiped the whiskey I’d spit on him off his face. He marched up to me and grabbed my hips, making me topple over my glass and it splashed onto the floor. He didn’t bother to clean it up. Heat burned from his touch with the hottest dragonfire I’d ever felt from him and his eyes blazed with a familiar silver glow…
My eyes went wide. “Are you connecting with Luke?” His rage was a bit too potent—even for a dragon shifter.
