Well, now I felt like an ass. “What if I had said no?”
His eyebrows shot up. “Does that mean you’re saying yes?”
“I… don’t know, Logan.” To be honest I felt confused. My Virtue bond wanted to fuck him—and my succubus side wholeheartedly agreed. Yet I couldn’t forget how he’d treated me in the cafeteria. He’d humiliated me in front of everyone and then left me to fend for myself against Hendrik. I wasstilltrying to stay one step ahead of the Dark Mage and I could have used some help. Instead, he’d left hismateall alone.
Logan pulled me close and pinched my chin. “I’m sorry for that.”
I believed him and the sincerity of his words touched the bond within me, begging me to forgive him.
“Are you guys going to fuck or what?” Orion complained, although there was a jealous bite to his words. “I promised Trevor he wouldn’t have to beg Miss Williams for another shipment of water bottles. They’re getting expensive now that the Academy realm is regressed, you know. Earth travel isn’t exactly a walk in the park.”
Yeah, like Orion was really here so prince Trevor would be more comfortable.
Although, it was concerning to hear that travel to and from Earth had become more difficult. I made a mental note to ask Kaito about that later. It worried me that Dante wouldn’t be able to return if things progressed much further.
“The moment has passed,” I said. “Why don’t you get off watching someone else? Or better yet, see if you can’t get it hard and take care of it yourself?” I stuck out my bottom lip. “What’s the matter? Does the big bad Demigod need Viagra?” I produced the spelled chocolate I’d kept from Olivia. “Something like this?”
The Demi leaned against the wall and grinned, unaffected by my taunt. “Oh, so you kept it on hand did you? That’s kinky, little star. Did you intend to eat it somewhere public?”
Logan moved to take the chocolate, but I snatched it out of his reach. “Hey,” he complained. “You can’t just wave chocolate in front of a hungry wolf and not offer to share it.”
“Trust me, you don’t want to eat this,” I said, then tilted my head. “Isn’t chocolate poisonous to dogs, anyway?”
He chuckled. “I’m not a dog, darling.”
“You kind of are. And quit calling me that.”
He made a grab for the chocolate again and I jumped out of his reach only to stumble over something on the floor. “Who’s leaving their junk lying around?” I complained, then spotted a hand waving from a dark pool of muck.
Well, that can’t be good.
“Nobody move,” Orion hissed. “That’s a demonspawn.”
“Demonspawn?” Logan yipped. “How the fuck did it get in here?” He moved to stomp on it, but I held out an arm across his chest. He could have pushed past me, but he gave me a raised eyebrow instead. “Want to tell me something, darling?”
Fuck, this was my fault, wasn’t it?
I looked down at the hand that was looking for something to grip onto. It wasn’t like when I had used the summoning orb. The murky surface looked thicker, darker, and harder for the creature to crawl through. Perhaps it had come here of its own accord, but what was it after?
My Blood Stone warmed against my skin to the point that I wanted to take it off, then I cursed. “Dammit, Hendrik.” Thisthingwas calling demonspawn to me.
To prove my theory, the creature managed to haul itself enough to peek through and beady red eyes immediately locked onto me. It hissed as it flicked out a forked tongue to taste the air.
“I think the not moving idea isn’t going to cut it,” I said with a hysterical lilt to my voice. “Orion, do something!”
“You do something!” he shot back. “You drained all my power and prevented me from recharging, and now you want me to save you?” He scoffed. “Typical woman.”
“Don’t talk to my mate like that,” Logan snarled, then shuffled back when the demonspawn hissed at him as it extracted itself further from the pool of darkness.
I didn’t know much about demonspawn, but I had a feeling that once it was completely free, we were all dead meat.
“I have an idea,” Orion said, slowly stalking the creature as he bent his knees, “but you’re not going to like it.”
The demonspawn opened its maw, revealing serrated teeth as drool dribbled from its mouth. I grimaced. I so did not want to get bitten by that thing.
Fuck this. I’m not going to be saved like some damsel in distress.
I opened my hands and spread my fingers, imagining claws shooting from my fingertips like I was some kind of X-men. “Come at me!” I shouted.
