I knew it was her.

She had made me even more immortal than an Elder. I knew we’d lost another one. I’d felt the shock wave from all the way down here—an unmistakable rumble in the Web similar to when Murdoch had been killed. It had come shortly after Amell had cemented our deal to extract the Shard from our Omega. Then, he’d left us.

Except this time there hadn’t been a flux to explain the power disruption I’d felt in the Web.

The sour taste of an Elder’s death lingered in my mouth.

Axel flexed his fingers at my side. His claws had come out, and he was just as close to losing it as I was.

At least in my situation, I’d had a lifetime of deprivation.

I had patience that had earned me the title of Alpha.

Whereas Axel had become an Alpha out of sheer determination.

Together, we could be unstoppable.

If we could survive the next few hours, of course.

Axel had seen this possible future where an Elder died.

His experience of being a Fortune Fae his entire life gave him an edge, so I wouldn’t have seen this timeline approaching.

But he had, and we’d made a plan.

A plan that only worked if I could keep my dick to myself.

Right now, that was proving fucking difficult.

My cock swelled with blood and throbbed with every heartbeat that pumped through my body.

I remained still while Gina continued to draw in the Dust that would help save our sanity.

And our lives.

Axel had explained it all to me.

It wasn’t just the flux that had given Zeke, and consequentially Gina, so much power. It was the impact of an Elder’s death that had produced so much Dust up for grabs.

We weren’t in close proximity to where an Elder had died, but Gina had been.

And our growls had just tapped into the part of her that knew how to draw that Dust into this room.

Now we just needed to guide her into doing what she did best.

Walk the Web.

And change the course of time.

Black dots sprinkledacross my vision as my chest fluttered with each short breath.

Deep breaths,I reminded myself.

If I passed out, that wouldn’t do me any favors.

Just being in the presence of these two Alphas was doing something to me. My spirit wrenched inside my chest as if it were trying to get out.

Forcing myself to fill my lungs with air, I expanded my rib cage. I tried to ignore how my dress sensually gripped my breasts just a little bit tighter.
