I’m coming, Mom. Hang in there.

A cold chill ran up my spine as Axel Tunneled us back to Fortune Fae Academy.

As I feared, Amell’s collar flared to life the moment we returned. I kept that sentiment to myself, not wanting to worry my Alphas.

Axel seemed at ease and entirely comfortable in his role as Alpha. He even made Tunneling appear effortless. Traveling through realms twice in as many days would have been an incredible drain on any Fortune Fae. We had portals for this kind of realm travel because Tunneling was not intended to be used this way.

But my mate-circle defied the rules. This was no exception.

Axel took a step toward the Academy, having Tunneled us to the entrance instead of directly inside of it. We didn’t know what we’d be walking into, so I agreed with his choice of location. Not to mention the Academy was likely more difficult to Tunnel into than the grounds outside due to safety wards.

But he most certainly could have, had he wanted to. A ripple across the primly cut grass spread out from his boot, demonstrating his impact on the Web.

Time. Space. And everything in between was affected by an Alpha like Axel.

Seifiek was no less of a disruption. The strands of time curled around him like a delicate string enduring the effect of a roaring flame. I wondered if Seif was aware of how he knit the threads back together again, subtly changing the timelines in the process.

What future do you weave by your mere presence?I wondered.

An echo through the Web caught my attention, alerting me of a disturbance to the future that hadn’t been there a moment before.

A disturbance I hadn’t caused, but someone in my mate-circle had. The frequency signature was unmistakable. Anerratic, fearless sound burst through time and space, giving me a broken vision of flashing lights.

And flames.

Rowan.

The Academy’s alarm system flared to life a moment later, bringing the brief vision to fruition. I frowned, disappointed that I hadn’t been aware of an issue with one of my Betas earlier, but proximity mattered when it came to interpreting the future. Usually, I needed to touch a person or object to have a vision of the future tied to those threads.

We’d only just arrived and everything was already going to shit.

Fabulous. I really hope that—

Another vision washed over me, sending a sensation of nausea that turned my stomach every time I felt it.

Because it was the ending of a timeline, a snap that burst inside my head like a firecracker.

Someone was going to die.

It didn’t mean that death would be Rowan’s, but it could be. Or it could be that of someone else who didn’t deserve to have their timeline cut short. And what was the point of knowing the future if I didn’t at least try to do something about it?

“Gina!” Axel shouted as I bolted past my Alphas and burst into the Academy, sending the wide doors swinging open.

Either of them could have used their Alpha voices on me, but they didn’t. They either trusted me or knew better.

Because I would not forgive being restrained against my will.

They growled, though. That didn’t command me, but promised punishment later.

Let them try,I thought.

Ignoring their tempers, I practically flew through the corridors. Alphas might be strong, but an Omega was fast.

Another snap through the timelines made me push myself harder.

Death is coming,my mind’s eye told me.

They’re going to burn… sink… drown…die.
