Amell clicked his tongue as if he’d forgotten something. “Ah, yes, Mina. There you are. And, Gina, come. You’re both just in time.”
For what? To see Roderik have his cock torn off?
Because that was what I planned on doing if he attempted to fuck one of the females in this room. Taking an Omega who approved of the match was one thing. But I hadn’t signed up for pointless murder.
I might die trying, but at least I’d die satisfied.
Working onto my feet, I managed to stand and place myself between Gina and Amell.
I steadied myself until I was convinced that I wouldn’t fall on my ass.
“Gina doesn’t need to be here for this.” It was a terrible idea to have Gina in the same aphrodisiac-filled room as Roderik when he was in a claiming mood. Although, perhaps that was exactly why she was here. Her presence encouraged my body to produce the type of toxin he needed to mate another Omega.
I couldn’t help it. Gina’s scent drove me mad. All she had to do was stand there and my body prepared itself for her needs. Her slick. Her arousal.
And the beautiful gift of my tongue and mybite.
My tongue flashed out over my lips as if I could already taste the change of my body’s preparations. Roderik’s attempt with a syringe might even work now, despite my best efforts to deny him.
Fuck.
Amell organized his papers as he put them away in a large box with glowing runes. I imagined the container was magically locked to prevent anyone else from seeing its contents. “Gina isn’t here for Roderik, if that’s your concern. That’s what Mina is for.”
“Excuse me?” the Omega named Mina chimed in.
Ah, yeah. That was her name.
She had the sense to frame the question politely. Her tone had been sweet, as if she simply hadn’t heard Amell correctly.
She probably thought that was what had happened, because she silently waited for Amell to repeat himself.
He didn’t.
Roderik wrapped his fingers into the crook of my neck and squeezed. “It’s not like me to skip the appetizer and jump to dessert, but fuck, Axel. Just look at her.”
Amell joined us as Roderik lusted over Mina. She clung to Gina now as she struggled to keep her arm from shaking, but failed.
I supposed she was pretty, as most Omegas were. She was a head shorter than Gina and wore a similarly revealing dress. She held herself with pride, though, which I found admirable. Her bob haircut curled under her sharp chin and her long nails left indents in Gina’s flesh.
But my Omega didn’t seem to notice. Instead, she held my gaze, giving me little warning before she shoved herself into my mind.
Are you hurt?she asked.
It took immense effort not to snort in reply. Of all the things Gina could be worried about, she worried her pretty little head about my well-being?
I’m fine,I said. Why are you here?I was much more concerned about what kind of lies Amell had told her to get her to come here without Seif.
Because Amell has my parents, as you know.
I nearly rolled my eyes.Yes, I’m aware. But why now? You should have waited until I returned.
Her lips thinned. You sound like Seif.
I wasn’t sure if that was an insult or a compliment.
Then she added,And I might have killed a peddler on my way here.
I couldn’t resist making a sound at that. Roderik chuckled, likely thinking I was reacting to Mina’s presence instead of my Omega in my mind. I very much doubted he had a telepathic connection with his Omega. That ability required trust and some unknown component that the Fortune Fae had yet to understand. Not every mate-circle gained the ability, and not every member within it mastered it even if they did.
