I can’t choose, I realized. Steeling myself, I came to the logical conclusion.So I won’t.

Both Axel and Seifiek seemed to relax and unclench their jaws when a new strand in the Web solidified. My decision had forged a path they could see.

“Very good, Omega,” Seifiek said. “Focus on that path. That’s the one we need.”

Axel nodded in agreement before the two Alphas glanced at one another.

Then they did the impossible.

Then knelt at my feet and bowed their heads in submission.

And the Web roared in response.

“Impossible,”Amell said as I sat in a chair in the viewing room he’d brought me to.

“Intriguing,” Roderik corrected as he leaned closer to the display that had them both so captivated.

Just moments ago Roderik had killed an Elder, but now they spoke as if they were allies.

Perhaps they were. Perhaps that was how quickly the fluctuations of power settled after such a clear demonstration.

Roderik was a contender in this game and Amell was old enough to know when to accept the inevitable.

Their alliance concerned me, but their apparent fascination with whatever was happening with my Omega had my entire body going tense and my chest constricting.

Breathing became a chore, but I didn’t feel like I was allowed to move until I knew Gina was okay.

I stared at the screen that was showing a live feed from inside the dungeon cell. Based on their reactions, something big was going down.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t see a damn thing.

This was the first time I really felt the sacrifice of my vision. Even if Gina was bathed in power, I couldn’t see her like this. The mechanical screen worked on displaying colors and images in the visual spectrum. My sight only responded to Dust.

Had Amell decided to watch through a magical hologram, I would probably would be able to see what was going on. It would pick up on the interworking of the Web, where a mechanical device could not. Which was likely why he’d chosen human technology for today’s viewing.

I doubted it was standard practice to have human technology fitted into the Collegium’s cells. Which meant he’d planned this out specifically for me.

To show me my vulnerabilities.

I couldn’t even see what was taking place, much less protect my Omega from two imprisoned Alphas in our mate-circle.

From the Elder toying with her.

From the Regional Alpha wanting to use her.

From a god looking to devour her.

Damn it,I cursed in my head as I squeezed my fingers into fists. I felt so damnhelpless.

“What do you think they’re trying to accomplish?” Roderik mused.

I was placed directly between the two Alphas and therefore subject to their conversation.

Silence stretched out before Amell answered Roderik’s question with another. “What do you know of the Shard?”

I glanced at the Regional Alpha, easily making out his massive form. Dust freely flowed through him, as did an aura of cruelty and insanity.

He was powerful and had overstepped the boundaries typically in place, angering the Web. All Fortune Fae had a role to play.
