I nuzzled into his neck, pleased that he hadn’t pulled up his hair yet. The damp, silky strands kissed my skin, inviting me to become lost in him.
“Come on, Zeke. You can tell me anything, you—”
Pain ripped through my abdomen as Zeke thrust his elbow into my ribs. “No,” he snarled, catching me off guard.
Zeke wasn’t the violent type.
He whirled on me while I gripped my stomach and caught my breath. His silver eyes were wild with fear. “You weren’t supposed to be here yet.” He yanked the robe off the bed and started thrusting his arms into it. “I was supposed to be long gone. But I’m Blind, Rowan. I can’t fucking see the future anymore. I would have skipped a shower had I known you’d return here tonight.”
I gripped the bedpost for support. “Wh-what?” I gasped. “What the fuck are you talking about, Zeke?”
He fumbled with the complex ties of the robe, likely having forgotten how to work them years ago. He cursed, then ripped the robe off and threw it to the ground. “Fuck this. I’ll just get a new one when I’m there.”
He zipped up his suitcase and tried to storm past me, but I tackled him to the ground.
“No,” I snarled as I leaned into him until our noses touched. “If you think you’re walking out of here just like that, you’re fucking insane.”
Zeke didn’t get to justleave.
He stared back at me, seeming to have no problem matching my gaze even though all the light had bled away from his colorless eyes. “Let me go, Rowan.”
My heart wrenched at his demand, as if by mere breath alone, he could rip it out of my chest.
Gathering his wrists, I pinned them above his head and showed him my teeth. “Not until you tell me what’s going on.”
Heat stormed inside my soul, threatening to burst out of me. A growl rumbled in my chest, one I should contain, but Zeke was pissing me off.
He hadhitme.
And now he was trying to walk away.
All without a word.
Fuck. That.
Heat blistered the floor, spreading out in soft blue waves as it crawled over the stone.
Zeke didn’t flinch underneath me, despite literal fire breaking out all around us.
He narrowed his eyes. “If you’re so intent onsharing, Rowan, why don’t you tell me why you’re bleeding magical flames?”
The air shimmered around us, suggesting the temperature was ramping up, but I couldn’t feel it.
Instead, my skin crawled with energy I didn’t understand. Images of the future flashed across my vision, showing me a hundred different possibilities of what my decisions in this very moment would produce.
For some reason, I kept demonstrating my ability to read my own future.
And I didn’t fucking like it.
Red.
Pain.
Gina…
Images of my Omega coughing up blood were the most prevalent visions, as was Zeke lying lifeless beneath me. My chest constricted with the unpleasant possibilities.
Not real,I told myself, but as a Fortune Fae, I knew the truth of a vision.
