What the fuck is wrong with me?
As if he could sense my interest, he glanced at me. His emerald eyes flickered with lust, the same kind of lust I had sensed from Raze.
He flinched and looked away, then snapped his fingers and summoned himself pants.
I was both disappointed and relieved.
“See?” Ned said. “She turns you on, right? Just admit it. Because she’s aUnicorn.”
“Or a new breed of succubus,” he snarled, then approached Angel.
She propped her hands on her hips in defiance.
The Unicorn narrowed his eyes. “My squadron is going to be busy trying to recapture Khimaira. That leaves me alone with you lot, so I suggest you listen carefully and do exactly as I say if you want to stay alive.”
Angel nodded. “Whatever you say, Mr. Unicorn, sir,” she said in a mock voice.
I rolled my eyes.Smooth, Angel. Piss off the powerful shifter.
He handed her the book, choosing to ignore her bravado. “I won’t be able to take this in my Unicorn Form, so hold onto it.” He leaned in and showed his teeth. “If any of you try anything, I willnothesitate to leave you to the forest beasts. Do you understand?”
She hugged the book to her chest and nodded. “Yep. Whatever you say, horsie boy.” She gave him a wide grin.
Either Angel had a crush on him, or she had a death wish.
Maybe both.
Based on the pounding of my heart, I had a crush on him, too, but maybe he was onto something with this succubus suggestion.
The way that Raze made me feel had my stomach wound into knots. Even though he was poisoned and it was making me a bit nauseous, my touch seemed to help him, so I didn’t let go.
And the desire to kiss him hadn’t gone away.
The only problem was that I wasalsodeveloping feelings and desires for Emerald Eyes. That suggested something magical was going on here, giving me these feelings for not one, but two super powerful, superhot, Unicorn Shifters.
I didn’t believe in fate. I didn’t care that Fate Witches existed and that the covens believed major events were predestined.
Fate was what we made it, and so was love.
Maybe that was a human concept, but that’s what I believed.
I barely knew these males, so my growing feelings for them didn’t make any sense.
I didn’t want to believe they were real just because magic told me so.
Magic had never done my life any favors, so I wasn’t going to start trusting it now.
When the male approached me, his body began to glow. “I’ll carry you and Raze to the Academy. You’ll ride on my back and your friends can follow.” He glanced back at them. “If they can keep up, that is. We’re going to be moving fast. This area won’t be safe for much longer.”
“Don’t you worry about us,” Ned said as he wiggled his fingers. “I have just the spell…” he began chanting, but I didn’t pay attention to what kind of ridiculous idea he was going to come up with next.
I was still stuck on the part where I was going toridethis male.
In the traditional sense, anyway.
Like, as in a horse.
My gods, my brain has gone straight in the gutter,I thought as I rubbed my temple.
