That I was… home.
The place was clearly well protected. Given the dangerous forest surrounding us, it made sense to me that the placement had been on purpose.
What didn’t make sense was how this entire world could exist and powerful supernaturals like my mother didn’t even know about it.
Eli had called it an Academy, which meant this was only one small section of where the Unicorns lived.
How manyarethere?
The gates slid open and Unicorns approached in a neat line. They wore glittering golden armor and their horns glowed with power that made me both anxious and excited. I couldn’t help but feel like something historic was going down.
More Unicorns in their mortal forms rode on intricate leather saddles. It would have been amusing to see Unicorns riding Unicorns, but they looked too regal for me to make fun of the situation.
Even Ned and Angel had been rendered speechless. His pegasus spell wore off, the creature vanishing back to whatever realm Ned had summoned it from, and they watched with their mouths hanging open.
I didn’t blame them. The Unicorns and their riders were breathtaking. The males in human forms all had rainbow hair, just like Raze and Eli, but their eyes were all different shades of gemstone colors.
Red.
Gold.
Green.
Sapphire.
Violet.
All colors of the rainbow, I realized.
And each had a silver scar marking their forehead, leaving little guess as to their natures.
They were beautiful.
Although, their postures seemed defensive and not welcoming at all.
I couldn’t blame them. Apparently, I wasn’t supposed to exist.
I wasn’t supposed to be here.
And I was covered in Raze’s blood.
Raze wavered on Eli’s back, and whatever boost of healing my kiss had given him seemed to wear off as he fell.
“Raze!” I shouted, trying to grab him, but he was too heavy. I fell with him, clinging to his robes now stiff with dried blood. The bandage I’d tied around his chest hadn’t been enough to stop the bleeding.
Eli shifted into human form, then snapped his fingers to summon himself some pants before the golden flash wore off.
Apparently, he wasn’t going to let me see his dick again, which was fine by me. I didn’t need the distraction.
“What’s the meaning of this?” one of the Unicorn males wearing a golden circlet asked as he dismounted. Unlike the others, his eyes were a bright silver, void of any noticeable color.
“Master Nox,” Eli said, bowing low with respect. “I apologize for breaking the rules but—”
“Yes,” the male named Master Nox snapped. His silver eyes narrowed, then shifted to me. “I’m certain I don’t have to reiterate our rules or inform a general of our blessed Guardian Legion that they exist for a reason. Yet, it seems I must.” His eyes glowed with warning. “We do not permit visitors, yet you have brought three.” He frowned at the state of Raze’s wounds. “And you have risked us all by bringing those Touched by Corruption inside the barrier.”
Eli bowed lower. “I apologize, Master. I will accept the punishment you deem worthy.”
Master Nox snorted. “The punishment should be death.”
