A hand gripped my hip.
Oh, not fully unconscious.
Raze groaned, then nuzzled closer into my chest, practically shoving himself between my breasts.
My entire face must have blazed red because Ned laughed—loudly—only for Angel to jab him in the ribs.
Master Nox seemed fascinated by the entire situation while, at the same time, managing to look like he needed to pass gas.
That must have been his “I’ll try to look friendly” face.
“Fine,” he finally said, “but no one is allowed to touch them.” He snapped his fingers at Eli. “Samuel will check you for Corruption, so you’re to wait in the guest wing as well, but in a different room.”
Eli nodded. “Of course, Master Nox.”
Eli moved toward me, but then Nox held out a hand. “No one is to help them. I will not risk further contamination. We have lost too many Guardians as it is.”
Eli frowned as his emerald eyes landed on me.
Then he glanced down at Raze who was practically motorboating me while snoring.
Not awkward at all. Nope.
But I kind of liked it, and the effect the vibrations had on my nipples was making the dizziness go away. Somehow, arousal seemed to be linked with burning out the poison.
Maybe that puts succubus-unicorn hybrid back on the table.
“At least tell Samuel to bring a crystal,” Eli said.
Master Nox’s frown deepened—which I hadn’t even realized was possible. He must have had a lot of practice tugging his lips down like that. “We don’t have any that are charged.”
Eli clenched his fists. “I’ll charge one. Just tell him to bring it.”
Master Nox sighed and looked like he was going to argue, then decided he’d had enough of all of us.
Who knows, maybe he had to get back to his butt-clenching exercises.
“Fine,” he said, waving a hand, then nodded to one of the Unicorn steeds. “See that it’s done.”
The beautiful creature turned and galloped into the Academy. The light shimmered along his pristine coat, mesmerizing me. I stared long after he had gone, distracted only when a hand rested on my shoulder.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to help me,” I told Angel.
She gave me a brave smirk, then glanced at the Unicorns as if daring them to try and challenge her. “They can kiss my scales. I’m not afraid of whatever black stuff is messing with you.”
Master Nox snorted. “If you wish to risk yourself, that’s one lessguestfor us to worry about.”
By “guest” I was pretty sure he meant “prisoner.”
Ignoring his not-so-subtle threat, Angel pulled me up to my feet, then glowered at Ned. “Come help, asshat,” she said through clenched teeth.
Ned gaped at her and waved a hand at Master Nox. “Did you not just hear that?” Angel glared at him until he sighed. “Okay, fine. But if I turn into a frog because of some upside down Unicorn-magic-gone-wrong, you’re taking care of me.” He grunted as he shifted Raze’s arm over his shoulder. “Flies for life, and only the best quality!”
Angel rolled her eyes, then she squeezed my hand. “Seriously, Bon, are you okay?”
I shifted under Raze’s other arm and pressed a hand to his chest. His robes were so shredded that I was able to touch his skin, and right now skin-contact seemed to be the only thing keeping us stable.
Although, just the fact that it was a strange Unicorn Shifter infected with a fire-breathing lion’s poison that comforted me right now just proved what kind of mess my life had quickly become.
