I spotted the source of the advanced Sapphire magic as Sebastian galloped into view. His unmistakable bi-colored eyes cut through the darkness as his presence dispelled the Corruption weighing in all around us.

I drew in a long breath of air as the pressure lifted.

“Sebastian,” I said, knowing that I should have called him Lead General. But I was far too relieved that he’d saved me from an unforgivable sin.

Killing a professor surely was enough to warrant my own death, at the very least. Perhaps a few years of torture, first, knowing Master Nox.

Not to mention Professor Soleil was pretty much the only family I had left. We weren’t related, but he treated me like a son, and that meant the world to me.

Tell Guille to stand down,Sebastian ordered.

I hadn’t even realized that Guille was about to go supernova behind me. Sun magic sizzled all around him as his chest heaved. He drew in gulps of air as his fists clenched.

This sort of fight was far too advanced for him, and he was losing control.

Something that I knew would happen, but I’d been naive enough to think I could keep him stabilized.

Running to Guille, I knew I needed to place my hands on him and channel some of the heat into the ground. The Sun House Training Grounds could handle even the worst of a Sun magic burst, but with the Corruption Storm I doubted the area was functioning normally.

When I reached him, I barely grazed his shoulders before pain and heat snapped through my body, forcing me to jolt away. “Fuck!” I cried out as Guille curled in on himself.

He wasn’t going to survive like this.

Sebastian cursed behind me, then a wave of cooling water fell from the sky as the ground rumbled and cracked, allowing the worst of the Corruption to bleed through.

Hybrids rarely could handle the mixture of magic, but Sebastian made it look easy. Professor Soleil writhed on the ground as blue strands of power secured his spirit to his body. The cooling wave washed over him and forced him to fall into a deep, healing sleep.

That was the Sapphire side of Sebastian, as was the cool rain that pattered against my cheeks.

The ground opening up and sucking in the Corruption Storm was his Emerald side. Even the full Emerald House Unicorns that I knew couldn’t pull off a feat like this.

But, as Master Nox’s brother, Sebastian had a lot to live up to. I didn’t envy his life.

He took a few steps toward Guille, then lowered his head until his horn was only a few inches away.

It lit up with a soft blue, forcing Guille’s magic to cool.

Guille snapped out of it as the golden gleam finally bled from his eyes. “Oh, fuck. Lead General, I’m so sorry…”

Don’t apologize,Sebastian snapped in our minds. He jerked his head, sending his long mane flinging over his flank.Just help me get the Professor to the Hold.He took a step toward me, his Emerald eye facing me as the ground rumbled in warning. And get me a damn crystal.

BONNY

“Did you hear something?”I asked as I pushed away my clean plate.

Raze had been far too good to me, feeding me steak, French Onion soup, pizza, and even M&M’s on my request. I shouldn’t have been surprised he knew exactly what all those things were, given that he’d come to Earth to find me in the first place.

Normally I’d want Skittles… but I was afraid that the Awakening Ceremony had ruined my favorite candy. So I opted for chocolate candies as a safe bet for now.

“Hmm?” Raze asked as he stared at me.

My cheeks heated under his scrutiny. Needing to have something to do with my hands, I grabbed one of the glasses of bubbly liquid and sipped it.

The ground had definitely been rumbling a moment ago, but I was still trying to process the fact that Raze had told me he was a virgin.

Of course, there wasn’t anything wrong with that. I just found it extremely difficult to believe.

But ever since he’d made that admission he’d been at ease, as if telling me the truth had been the right thing to do, and he’d proceeded to distract me with any food I could possibly desire.
