And as a unicorn, her power was unprecedented. I needed to return her to the only realm that could contain our brand of magic before it consumed her.
She groaned, the sound going straight to my dick.
Then she leaned into me, clearly dizzy, but her breasts brushed my chest and her breath kissed my neck. Goosebumps immediately sprouted over my arms.
Fuck.
“Don’t move,” I warned her as I gripped her shoulders. It forced her to stay close to me, but also assured me that she couldn’t do that horrible and wonderful thing again.

Because I wasn’t supposed to feel sexual energy.
Unicorns weren’t permitted to feel desire of any sort, until we gave up our magic, of course. That was because our magic ran on purity and selflessness. Like all unmated Unicorn Shifters, I’d given my soul to the Unicorn’s treasure hoard to amplify our power and to protect my own gifts. It gave me the benefit of not having to deal with sexual energy or distractions, which made my feelings now all the more disturbing.
But I liked it…
And that frightened me most of all.
The female’s mother stared at her daughter. I knew it was her mother because they shared the same gorgeous blue eyes that reminded me of a sunny day in my home realm. Whenever I gazed up through the trees in the Enchanted Forest, the brilliant blue of my realm’s skies was like a crystal and couldn’t be compared to anything else.
Until now.
This female had become my sky, had become my center, and the desire to protect her exploded within me—along with other disturbing sensations.
It didn’t make any sense, but I’d learned to listen to my instincts through my thousand years.
I’d been waiting for something during my long life.
Perhaps it wasn’tsomething, butsomeone.
“You’re going to have to come with me,” I told the female. That was obvious, but I felt the need to say something out loud. The silence crushed in on us, making me uncomfortable, and I wasn’t used to the spotlight.
I wasn’t even supposed to be here, much less reveal my species. However, I’d detected Purity magic being used outside our realm, and no other Unicorn Shifters were on the roster to be on Earth.
Which meant there was a new Unicorn being born.
I had expected a baby, not a fully grown female.
Much less one who made meneed.
“Excuse me, whoever you are, but my daughter isn’t going anywhere,” her mother snapped. She jolted into an authoritative posture that made me immediately dislike her.
She thought she was in charge here.
“Um, hello?” the exquisite female weakly complained as she leaned into me again. She pointed at the golden horn that had graced her head.
It was remarkable, really. She’d managed a partial shift, something that took concentration and practice. Yet, she’d burst with Purity magic when she’d come too close to me, her need to shift likely overwhelming her senses.
Fascinating.
I realized that the female had been talking, so I attempted to pay attention.
She rubbed her temple, clearly agitated by something her mother had said. “Can we focus on what’s important here? Like what the fuck just happened to me?”
She’s got a mouth on her. I like it.
A low chuckle escaped my throat, earning a glare from the gorgeous female. I tried to cover it by pushing her away from me. Although I only managed to put her at arm’s length. The desire to take her into my arms again wasn’t logical. She’d stabilized from her first surge of Awakening, but more power surges would come.
