Moon Goddess magic lit up all across his skin.

And her scent was all fucking over him.

He was the reason she’d been pushed into heat.

He… had tasted her.

And I was going to rip out his fucking tongue and feed it to him before I choked him on his own entrails.

Based on the speed which Vern reacted, claws extended and jaw unhinged and ready to bite—he fully fucking agreed.

KATLYN

So much rage.

I knew it wasn’t my own that I was feeling. Mostly because I was in far too much agony to feel anything except the breaking of my bones.

My fingers and toes were the worst. Who knew there were so many tiny bones that needed to be reshaped in those areas?

Yet the emotions rolling through my alphas seeped into my soul.

They had rejected me, but the rejection was quickly fading now that they hadn’t finished the job.

I decided that didn’t really matter. This slow agony was going to finish what they hadn’t been able to do. Being killed by one of them would have been a mercy compared to this death.

“Make… it stop,” I begged as my voice changed to something more of a growly nature. My tongue remained human, though, making it painfully scrape against sharpened canines.

“Just breathe,” Althea instructed as she continued to drag me through the compound.

My vision had changed. When my eyes were open, the world seemed washed in yellows and blues. Flowers spread throughout the courtyard mixed with the Moon Blossoms, adding bright colors to the brilliant whites.

I didn’t see any reds or greens, though. The trees seemed muted and the sunrise wasn’t quite the right color.

Squeezing my eyes shut again, I stumbled as my broken toes hit a rock.

“Careful!” Althea snapped at the tiny wolf shifter who was doing a poor job of holding me up. I still wasn’t sure why Kane had chosen her of all the options to drag me wherever it was we were going.

“Sorry,” Nina said quietly, then pressed a hand against my ribcage as Althea bore most of my weight.

“Can you put her to sleep yet?” Althea asked, making my heart rate spike.

Put me to sleep?

What did that mean?

“Not yet,” Nina responded. “I need to be closer to the pool.”

“What—” The single word was cut off on a scream when my spine snapped.

Fuck.

I was going to die.

“You’re not going to die,” Althea promised me.

Huh, I guess I said that thought out loud.

“We’re almost there,” Althea insisted as she yanked me left.
