A snarl ripped from my throat.
Trust?I thought incredulously.I should have listened to Aunt Daliah.
She’d warned me not to judge based on their beauty.
And gods… Kane was absolutely beautiful.
Even with my altered wolf’s vision he took my breath away. I indulged in the defined lines of his muscular body, his breathtaking eyes, and kissable mouth.
His tongue flashed out to wet his lips as if he knew I was admiring him.
I knew he was remembering tasting me, and a secret thrill swept through my core.
It was a good thing I wasn’t in human form or it would be difficult to resist him.
But I forced myself to recall the rest of Aunt Daliah’s warning.
Judge their actions.
Kane had restrained me.
And he was covered in gashes… from killing off my other alphas? Perhaps they’d rejected me, but I was the one who should have killed them for their decision.
He had no fucking right.
“Kaitsja, I need you to listen to me.”
The chains went taut as I paced back and forth as much as they would allow.
I had no choice but to listen. There was nowhere else to go.
But anything he said now would only fuel my anger.
And why did he keep calling me Kaitsja? My wolf wasn’t here.
Or rather, she’d fallen into slumber again.
Because I’d rejected her? Then why had I shifted?
And why couldn’t I shift back?
“You’re in a precarious position. You went into heat, and to protect yourself you went into wolf form.” He swept his fingers through his hair, revealing a nasty gash across his hairline that had tinged his hair red.
Wasn’t he supposed to heal at super speeds? Why was he still injured?
He sighed. “It’s my fault. I didn’t get a chance to explain any of this to you.”
Unsatisfied with his vague responses, I backed off enough to work one of the chains in my mouth.
And I began to chew.
The metal hurt my teeth, but I didn’t care.
Perhaps a wolf would try to chew off their own arm first, but these chains ran around my neck. I needed to sever them to truly free myself.
And wasn’t I supposed to be the Goddess now? My wolf form should be able to handle a little bit of metal.
The way that the element gave under my bite proved my theory was correct. Yet, something jolted through me the moment I could have fully bit through like a massive toothache.
