Come out to play, Kaito.

He took a step forward and his flesh fell from his leg, dissipating like ash as his true demon broke through.

He growled, then he took another step, sending the other half of his body crumbling.

What was revealed underneath startled me.

It looked just like Kaito’s mortal form, except everything was a little bit more… perfect.

I’d broken off his horns, but new ones twisted into their regular shape. His shoulders rippled with muscles and his hands reformed from their broken shapes, forming graceful, long fingers.

His abdomen flexed with strength and what was left of his pants melted away from the heat emanating from him, revealing an impressive cock that was larger than what I remembered.

My eyes widened as I took in his Kami form and I realized who and what he was.

He wasn’t just any demon.

He was a Fallen Angel who had claimed a demonic role.

The position as the caretaker of Hell’s Heart. That’s why he had known its location.

And that’s why he was about to kick my fucking ass.

KAITO

Oh.

Oh this felt… good.

Power rippled through my body that had been completely ruined a moment before.

Now I embraced the ruin.

I burned in it.

I’d been so afraid of who I was underneath my mortal shield that I forgot something important.

I wasn’t just a demon.

There was a reason why I was attracted to Azrael and his brother.

They called to an ancient part of me that had once been divine.

Angels and demons were typically separate species, but when I had cultivated Hell’s Heart and developed the Death Lotus, it had changed me.

It had made me into something new.

Something so powerful that even Calamity couldn’t control it.

I shot out a hand and released a wave of power, sending Azrael flinging back against the wall. He grunted at the impact and I was pleased by the crunching sound of something breaking.

Maybe it was a rib, or his wings. I didn’t really care. He needed to know that he wasn’t in charge anymore.

And I was going to show him exactly what he had unleashed.

“I think I know what you really want,” I said, my words coming out ethereal and filled with power. The walls trembled as I spoke, but not Azrael.

He grinned for the first time since we’d begun.
