“My pleasure, princess.”

Rachel really liked Peyton. She was sassy, funny, and sweet. It was impossible not to feel the deep love she and Noah had for each other, even if you weren’t an empath. Since she was, the love pouring off both of them was overwhelming.

It was the same with Jack and Nichole. They were soulmates. Being around them when they were together made her long for someone in her life who made her feel like that, who loved her the way these two men did her friends.

Dallas brushed his fingers over her arm as he passed her to get the groceries. Her eyes traveled over him as he walked away from her. His body was a work of art. Being a SEAL was no doubt one reason he was in such good shape but growing up on a working ranch sure hadn’t hurt.

It wasn’t just his perfectly cut body that drew her to him. Yeah, she could see herself years and years from now still getting hot when she roamed her hands over his arms, chest, and anywhere else her hands landed on. What if he was her soulmate and she walked away? No, she’d know that, wouldn’t she? She’d feel it.

“You’re going to set him on fire if you keep looking at him like that,” Peyton said.

“Busted,” Rachel muttered.

Peyton laughed. “Not that I blame you. They are easy on the eyes.”

“Truth.” She glanced at Noah. “Have you set a date for your wedding?”

“Sometime next year. Right now, Noah and Jack are really busy getting the new center built and up and running. Who knows, we might sneak away one weekend and get married by an Elvis impersonator in Vegas.”

“And Noah could sing his vows to you instead of saying them.”

“I’d actually love that.”

The guys jogged up the steps with bags of groceries in their arms. Rachel opened the door and followed them in. “Just set everything on the counter. I’ll get it all put away.”

“I didn’t know what y’all liked, so I just got a bunch of everything,” Peyton said. “There’s ice cream in there you might want to get in the freezer.” Bella walked into the kitchen, carrying Blue. Peyton’s eyes widened. “Oh my gosh, would you look at that.” She kneeled in front of Bella. “Who’s this?”

“That’s Bella and her kitten, Blue,” Dallas said. “She found him in a cave and decided he belonged to her.”

Peyton laughed. “That’s the cutest thing ever.” She lifted her gaze to Noah. “Lucky—”

“No, Lucky does not need a kitten.” Noah held out his hand and helped her up. “We need to go, princess.”

“Yeah, Dad’s probably wondering where we are.” She clapped her hands. “Y’all should come to dinner with us.”

Rachel had no desire to be out in public while Robert was nosing around. “Thanks, but we need to get settled in here, and I want to get these groceries put away. Next time, okay?”

“I’ll hide the Jeep on our way out,” Noah said. “See you both in the morning.”

“They’re great people,” Rachel said after they left. She peeked in the first bag, looking for the ice cream.

Dallas stepped behind her, put his hands on her hips, and nuzzled her neck. “You’re great people.”

She leaned her head against his chest. “You got something on your mind, cowboy?”

“I do.”

“And what would that be?”

“You. Specifically, you under me.”

“I like the sound of that.” She looked in the next bag. “Ah, there you are.” There were four flavors of ice cream. She took two out and held them up to him. “Help me get the cold stuff in the fridge, then I’m all yours.”

“Actually, I want to do a walk-around, do a little scouting.”

She hated these reminders of the danger hovering over them, but it was good thinking. “Okay, you do that while I get us settled in.”

“I won’t be long.” He bent his head and kissed her, then snapped his fingers. “Come, Bella.” He smiled as he shook his head. “No, leave Blue here.”
