“Gareth, I don’t know what you have in mind, but I don’t want them hovering around us, kneeling and stuff. That’s… no.”

“Don’t worry, love. I have a plan, but you’re going to play a part in it. I need you to reach out to Mother.”

Sean widened his eyes. Quinn knew Mother showed up when she wanted to do so. She wasn’t called.

“Really?”

“Yep. It’s time to get some things settled.” Gareth turned to Quinn. “I need you to get Deke comfortable, then join us, because it affects you too.”

Wow. This is gonna be interesting. With Dani’s help, they got Deke into the house.

“I moved you to the lower floor,” Dani told him. “It’ll be easier for both of you.”

“Thank you. I hadn’t even considered that.”

They got Deke into the room, and Dani helped get him into bed. Through it all, Deke barely stirred. Dani stood and kissed Quinn on the cheek.

“I’m glad he’s home. You’re much calmer now.”

“It’s like everything settled in, and now I can breathe.” He peered down at Deke, who seemed so innocent in repose. “Can I have a few minutes?”

“Take all the time you need. Gareth needs to learn patience.”

She brushed a hand over Quinn’s cheek, then stepped out of the room. Quinn looked around the new room. The Alpha’s house had never felt like anything more than a place to sleep, and now? It still wasn’t home. That was wherever Deke was. If Deke asked Quinn to live with him, he’d do it in a heartbeat.

Deke sat up, eyes narrow slits. “Quinn?”

“I’m here.” He sat on the bed and took Deke’s hand. “What’s wrong?”

“Are we back in Lydon?”

“Mhm. You need to sleep. Gareth wants me to come to a meeting. The rest of the Vampyri showed up, and now Gareth wants Sean to contact Mother.”

“Oh. Okay.” He yawned, his mouth so wide his jaw cracked, and lay down again. “Need to know something, though. If all this crap showed me anything, it’s that I don’t want to live without you anymore. I’d like to ask Lyram permission to build us a home, and for you and I to live there. Would that be okay?”

Quinn leaned over Deke’s prone figure. “I would love to live with you.” He pressed their lips together. “I love you.”

“Love you too. When I wake up, I want to show you how much, okay?”

Butterflies flocked in Quinn’s stomach. “Yes, please.”

But Deke was asleep again. Quinn kissed his forehead, then went out to the great room. The Vampyri were clustered around Sean’s chair, peering down at him and the babies, who stared wide-eyed at them. When both kids reached for the Vampyri, Sean gasped.

“They’re usually so closed off around others,” he said. “Yet they reach for you without a problem.”

“The Vampyri are their protectors, and the children know this. They feel safe with us.” Zach peered at Sean. “We would make you feel safe as well, Sean. Search your feelings, and you will know it to be true.”

Sean said nothing. He turned to Gareth, who held out his arms. Sean sagged into them and sighed.

“They’re beautiful. Never did I think there would be another Omega,” one of the women said.

“Yes, and we’re going to deal with that now. Sean? Can you ask Mother if she’ll talk with us?”

“Sure, I’ll try.”

Sean closed his eyes. Several long minutes passed before he opened them. They were that coal black Quinn had seen before.

“We aren’t used to being summoned, Alpha Supreme.”
