“Are you sure about this?” Mal asked. “We don’t have to do this now. I mean, we can take time and loosen you up the right way. Toys would help stretch you, I think.” His voice broke. “I can’t bear the thought of hurting you, my little bunny.”
“You said it would hurt. I’m ready to try.”
“Please, baby. If it hurts, you have to tell me.” He ran a hand down Alp’s back. “Close your eyes, take some deep breaths. When I push in, you push out, okay?”
Alp nodded, too overwhelmed to form coherent thoughts.
“No, Alp. You need to tell me. I won’t do anything unless you explicitly say the words.”
Alp snapped his head back. “Fuck me, damn it! Are those the words you want?”
The smirk he got in answer shouldn’t have been sexy, but it was. Everything about Mal tripped triggers for Alp. He tensed when the telephone pole nestled against his hole. He quickly closed his eyes and took those deep breaths Mal mentioned. The first press of flesh to flesh had Alp crying out and scrambling to get away.
“Alp? Oh, fuck. I’m sorry!” Mal clutched Alp and pulled him into a fierce hug. “Maker, please forgive me. I’m sorry.”
It stunned Alp when he felt hot tears on his neck. Was Mal seriously crying?
Over him?
Chapter 12
The scream tore through Mal as Alp jerked away from him, and he panicked. He’d never really given much thought to the comfort of the people he slept with. Sure, they weren’t virgins, but they hadn’t normally been with a First wolf.
“Alp? Oh, fuck. I’m sorry!” Mal grabbed Alp and pulled him into a fierce hug. “Maker, please forgive me. I’m sorry.”
A moment later, a hand patted Mal’s back. “Are you… crying?”
Mal shook his head. Of course he wasn’t. Firsts didn’t cry. “I told you I didn’t want to hurt you. I’m so fucking sorry.”
“Hey.” Alp kissed his neck. “Look at me.”
But Mal couldn’t. The thought of seeing anger or pain on Alp’s face had him wanting to hide away.
“Mal, look at me.”
Slowly, Mal pulled back until he could see Alp’s face. There was no censure, no anger. And when Alp leaned in and kissed him, the fears he’d somehow screwed this whole thing up wentpoof.
“You warned me, okay? You said it would hurt. You tried to get me to calm down, to prepare myself. I… thought you were exaggerating.” He gave Mal a peck on the lips. “This is on me, not you.”
“No, I—”
“Need to shut up now and listen. I get that you’re a First, and you like the control, but you need to understand, I have my own mind too. Sometimes—not often, no matter what my mother said—I do stupid things. This was one of them. You’ve been nothing but considerate. I need to listen a little more, I think.”
“Your mom said you need to listen a lot more. When I went to pour coffee, she followed me, and after another round of complaints about not having vanilla creamer, said I needed to use a firm hand with you, because you were… what were her words? Oh, yeah, a stubborn little shit who thought he knew better than anyone else.” He stroked Alp’s face. “She didn’t understand that it was that streak in you is what I fell for. You’re so fucking strong, and I’m honored to be mated to you.”
Alp’s cheeks pinked. “Can we try this again?”
“Do you think you’re ready? I’m fine with blow jobs, because you’ve got a fucking hot mouth. Or even a hand job, because your hand is so soft.” He nuzzled Alp’s neck. “Whatever you want, I will always do my best to give it to you.”
Alp flipped over onto the pillows again and lifted his ass. “I want you to get in me.” He squinted. “But maybe be a little patient if I ask you to go slow, okay?”
Mal couldn’t help but smile. When his First had talked about mates, he glossed over how it happened and spoke more about the feelings involved. How it was like two beings merged into one, each completing the other, making them whole. Since meeting Alp, Mal’s entire life had done a 180-degree turn, and now he was headed back to the life he thought he didn’t want. But having Alp—a pack—suddenly meant more to him than he could verbalize.
“C’mon man, this ass isn’t going to fuck itself,” Alp whined.
“Well, there are toys, you know,” Mal retorted with a wink.
“You’re impossible,” Alp said, but there was such a bright smile on his face.
