I don't have to ask as if it’s working, because in the next second, a strong mouth moves beneath mine.
I feel skin firm beneath my hands where I touch the mummy’s bandages, and my eyes fly open. The wrappings begin to fade away, and his eyes swirl milky white before brightening to a startling shade of blue. I try to pull my face away, but the mummy grabs me, holding me to him as our gazes’ clash and he makes our mouths meet forcefully.
“Finally, you’re awake,” Sebastian says, his tone like he’s remarking on the fucking weather, while my face is plastered to a mummy’s.
A satisfied moan falls from the mummy as he finally pulls away from kissing me and reclines in the golden throne. My heart is beating like a hummingbird, and the mummy reaches out to touch my face almost reverently.
“Mate,” the mummy says, his voice deep and multilayered as he stares at me. His hands tighten down on my arm as if to pull me closer.
He’s beautiful, with black-colored brows, a strong chiseled jawline, and an aquiline nose. His skin is a deep purple hue that’s ethereal but alien, and unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
He exudes power, but his touch is gentle where he caresses me, and I can’t help arching into him.
Delores can suck it; my mates, plural, are way better than hers.
“Are you going to get us out of here, or are you going to just sit there playing with our new mate?” Sebastian asks, looking handsomely disgruntled with his hands on his hips.
I smile at my new mummy man, liking the feel of his skin on mine as he rubs his face into my neck.
“Need I remind you that one of us is still human? If this blasted cave tumbles, we’re trapped in here for-fucking-ever,” Sebastian snarks, his attention on the ceiling.
The mummy’s eyes turn molten blue, and I can sense the flow of magic as it pulls seemingly from everywhere at once. His power is unfathomable. He keeps surging magic towards us, and I get lightheaded from the amount he’s amassing.
“Blow me to Bermuda,” the mummy intones.
The sound reverberates around the room, deafening, loud, and nipple-hardening. The world goes dark.
Chapter 5
Chloe Landry
Icome awake slowly, my brow creasing from the lack of sounds as I realize I’m not at home. I can’t be, because by now one of my younger sisters would be yelling and bringing down the house.
I open my eyes, and my gaze lands on Sebastian in a chair across the room from me, flipping a wicked looking knife in his hand. He’s dressed in newer clothes, but they’re much the same, a white lawn shirt and brown pants that make him look like an explorer.
I glance about the room and take in the white canopied four poster bed I’ve been sleeping in. I look under the covers and find I’m dressed in a soft linen shirt and nothing else. I’m willing to bet it was Sebastian who changed me.
“Oh good. You’re awake.” Sebastian smiles, getting to his feet and making his way towards me, and I can’t help but smile at the boyish grin that lights up his face.
He reaches my side and bends down to kiss my forehead, sending warmth and affection soaring through my chest. I’ve dated lots of men over the years, but I’ve never had a mate, never felt this driving need that now seems to permeate between us.
“How are you feeling? Do you want some water?” he asks, reaching for a glass on the bedside table to hand to me.
I wave him away with a shake of my head, my gaze searching as I realize I’m missing something.
A wide grin pulls across Sebastian’s face, and he nods towards the open window blowing a soft breeze into the room. “He left a bit ago but will be back soon.”
A sinking feeling enters my chest when I remember how the ceiling caved in and how I could have lost them both, or never found them at all.
My spirits lift when my mummy walks into the room, the corners of my lips turning up at the sight of him. He’s very handsome when not covered in the mummy wrappings. His head is bald and a deep purple like the rest of him. He wears oversized flowy white pants and a matching shirt like beachwear, unbuttoned.
“You’re awake,” the mummy says, his voice deep and smooth like velvet, not omnipotent like before.
“Hi,” I say, blushing when he does the same as Sebastian and moves to kiss my forehead before smoothing my brow.
“Hello,” the mummy answers, his purple face morphing into a smile as he pulls away.
“I’m Chloe.” Introducing myself, even though we’ve already made it to first base, and I watched him reach third with Sebastian.
