“I would be too,” Reaper agrees. “It would be a bit too coincidental.”
“It would,” I say with a frown. “Are we just supposed to go back to classes?”
“I guess so?” Loki replies, sounding unsure.
“Classes seem so incredibly unimportant now,” Mayhem mutters with a frown.
“That’s because of what we’ve been through, and what we know that we still have to go through,” Rival replies simply.
“We also now know that the majority of the information that they teach here is missing big chunks,” Storm points out.
“That’s true,” Rival nods, he glances around at the room that is far more familiar to him than it is to me, since they’ve been going to the academy for years, and I had only been here for a short time before we got pulled into the Warrior Games. Continuing, he says, “There are two extra rooms.”
“I’m going to assume that one is for Kill and the other one is for Zev,” Reaper points out. “He wasn’t on our team before we got pulled into the first task. He must now officially be a part of our Warrior Team.”
Zev’s eyebrows rise in surprise, “I had completely forgotten about that.”
“So had I,” I reply. “This is going to be so much weirder than we thought it was going to be, and I already thought that it would be really weird to come back here after everything.”
“So what do we do now?” Kill asks after a moment of silence.
“Oh, thank fuck you are here,” Hades says, as he and Khaos suddenly appear in the middle of the room.
Kill looks at me, “Didn’t you use the bondlines to tell them that we were okay?”
I wince, “No. To be honest, that hadn’t even occurred to me.” Glancing at the two of them, I add, “I’m sorry.”
They both smile.
“We both could have done the same thing, none of us are used to the bondlines and being able to communicate that way yet,” Khaos reassures me.
“That’s true,” I smile.
Chapter Fifteen
Farren
“We wanted to make sure that you were okay,” Hades says, looking at me for a moment longer before his gaze drifts to the others. He continues, “Unfortunately, we’re not going to be able to stay here with you. Our magic is going to mess with certain wards they have here, and our presence is likely to cause a stir that will bring unwanted attention to all of you.”
I frown. I don’t like that.
The idea of us all being separated is not something that I wanted to happen ever again. There’s a small part of me that wonders whether that was the plan of whoever is insisting on our being at the academy, to split us up, and the more I think about it, the more the thought gains traction.
“You don’t think that someone has split us up on purpose, do you?” I ask, interrupting whatever it was that the guys were speaking about.
They all pause and seriously consider my question, which I appreciate. They also answer honestly and don’t sugarcoat it, which I also really appreciate.
“I suppose that could be the reason why you’ve been brought back here,” Khaos says with a frown.
“It doesn’t feel like that’s the reason why,” Zev says. Which probably reassures me more than anything else that anyone else could say.
“That’s reassuring, but I do think that we should still be careful,” Storm agrees.
“Yeah, we’re at our weakest when we’re separated, and with the God wanting to take over Hades' realm, now would be a good time to try,” Kill agrees.
Hades nods, “Yes, it would.”
“I know I said that we need to be here,” Zev says. “We do, but I think we can leave just so long as we’re not leaving in order to not come back, or even for too long.” He frowns, “It’s really confusing, trying to read the visions around the blank spots.”
