“We don’t know,” the stablemaster replies exasperatedly. “Every time that we put one of them out, another one starts, and I have no idea why.”

I know why, it’s Revel, but it’s not like I can say that to the stablemaster because he shouldn’t be able to do that.

I do decide to tell the guys, though.

Opening the bondlines to all of them, including Khaos and Hades, I say,“Revel is the one who lit the fires. He does that when he’s pissed.”

“Who is Revel?”Khaos’s gravelly voice fills my head, and I smile. It’s crazy that I miss him already, I know that. He only left a short while ago, but it doesn’t change the fact that I do miss him and Hades.

Concentrating, I send an image of what I’m looking at through to Khaos and Hades.

“How long has he been able to do that?”Hades asks me,“I don’t remember him being able to do that before.”

“It’s a recent thing,”I reply.

“It’s not normal,”Khaos adds.

“Is anything normal when it comes to anything to do with Farren?”Loki asks, with fondness.

“Good point,”Hades and Khaos say together.

“I’m closing the bondlines now. We need to deal with this. I just wanted everyone to know about Revel’s trick before I forget to say, because life spirals. Stay safe,”I say to them both, and the guys all echo the sentiment.

“We will. I want to meet your horse,”Khaos replies.

I manage to close down the bondlines and refocus just in time because it's at that moment that the horse in question spots me.

He rears up, his neigh fierce as he comes charging toward us.

“I’d move away from me if I were you,” I say to the guys.

“Farren?” Reaper says, sounding unsure. “I know he was behaving pretty feral last time and you managed to calm him down, but this is a whole new level of chaos.”

I turn to look at them with a huge smile on my face, “Yeah. I’ve got this.”

Chapter Seventeen

Farren

None of them seem entirely convinced that I do actually have this, but there’s no time for me to try to explain it more because Revel comes charging toward me.

I brace myself, stepping to the side at the last moment and using a boost of my magic to help me grab onto him and swing myself up onto his back. He doesn’t slow down in the slightest as he somehow manages to pick up more speed, and we race through the huge paddock, the other horses joining us.

I hold on as he jumps through one of the fires that he’s created, and when he’s cleared it, I try to pull the air from it so that it will go out. I don’t know how he’s done it, but somehow he’s managed to stop my magic from stopping the fires.

Sneaky fucker.

I have absolutely no idea when he learned how to do that. I do, however, know that he shouldn’t be able to do it. Like Khaos said, it’s not normal. He shouldn’t be able to do magic at all, but that has never really stopped him.

“Smart, Revel,” I compliment him as he sends us soaring over yet another fire. “I assume that you know how to put them out?”

Still galloping, he somehow manages to glance back at me and snap his wickedly sharp teeth. He simultaneously sends me feelings, which are roughly translated as a shrug.

“Seriously? You don’t know?”

He huffs and sends me images of the years that I’ve abandoned him for, and again tries to make out that they treated him really badly while I was gone.

I roll my eyes, “I know for a fact that they have been treating you well, just like last time, despite the fact that you are being extremely difficult for them.” My eyes widen slightly, “Serious question, how long have I been gone for?”
