I picture Paisley Grove riding by Achilles’s building, staring up at his penthouse, hoping to see me.She really did like me. Someone like her liked me. Wow.

“Hey,” I say as she examines my living room. “I could fit your entire apartment in my garage.”

She chuckles. “You really could. This place is just so…”

I wait for her to finish, but my cock isn’t in the mood to let me engage her in small talk. I draw her to me and grab her hips as I rub my man of steel against her. This feels so good.

Her sexy lips part. I suck her bottom lip into my mouth and then her top lip. My tongue seizes hers.

Grrrr—grrr—urrrr—grrr. That’s her stomach. We both burst into laughter.

I take her hand. “Eat first. My bed later.”

Barbara leftdinner for two in the warmer. I told her I was bringing a guest over. She expected me to be home earlier, and so did I. Asking Paisley to let me into her apartment was a last-minute decision. I wanted to know if she’d do it or not. I was shocked that she said yes. Maybe we should stop playing games and put the truth on the table so we can deal with it.

I’m glad I changed my mind and let Paisley eat. She’s tearing into Barbara’s chicken like it’s her last meal. I love seeing her eat, uninhibited. She’s as comfortable with me as I am with her. I don’t know how long this is going to last, but it’s nice for the time being.

“What is this? Oh my God.” Her eyes are wide with wonder and she chews with a hand over her mouth.

I snort a chuckle. “Let me see.” I pick up the dinner card Barbara left on the platter. She does that whenever I have guests so I can tell them exactly what they’re eating. “It’s za’atar chicken cutlets with a sweet lemon-cabbage salad.”

She nods. “Wow. Nice. I miss…” She takes another bite of chicken.

“You miss what?” I ask.

“Good food.”

I tilt my head curiously. “Benny’s hot dogs were pretty good.”

She laughs. “Agreed.”

“So…” I stop myself from saying her fake name. I don’t want to call her Lark, because that’s not who she is. “Tell me about your family.”

Her eyes grow wide as she chews faster. “What about my family?” she asks with a hand over her mouth.

“Do you have any brothers or sisters?”

She just looks at me, panicked, while still chewing. I want to laugh.Does she not remember the goddamn script?I know Max Grove’s type. I’m sure he’s written one for her.Control…

She doesn’t even realize it, but she gets wet when I take control. She likes it that way.Damn… we need to finish eating.

“Just a brother,” she finally says.

I nod, surprised that she told the truth.

“Are you close?” I ask, purposely pushing her.

“Very.”

I put down my fork and fold my arms. “Tell me about him.”

Her eyes are wide again. “Like what?”

“Is he older or younger than you?”

She pauses. “Older.”

Again, the truth.
