Sin: That was the idea. Unfortunately, he still did it.
Lavender: Sorry about that.
Sin: It’s not your fault.
Lavender: Hey, I don’t want to cut this short, but the contractor is here. We’re going to be working on the house. Even Holden Miller came to help.
Sin: Knightly’s brother-in-law?
Lavender: Yep. That same one. I’ll try not to salivate while he’s here.
Sin: Youhave a thing for him?
Lavender: Yes and no. It was just a kid crush. Twelve-year-old me is dreaming of him. Current me not so much.
Sin: Keep it that way, platonic. I’m still in the running, remember?
Lavender: As a friend.
Sin: We’ll see.
Lavender: You’re impossible. Talk to you later.
Chapter Eleven
Sin: Morning.
Lavender: Isn’t it a little too early?
Sin: Five in the morning. It’s a great time to go out for a run and then start working.
Lavender: Don’t you have a life?
Sin: That’s part of my life.
Lavender: You seem to only work and work and . . . wait for it . . .
Sin:What am I waiting for?
Lavender: For me to say, work.
Sin: Not sure what you’re trying to accomplish.
Lavender: I’m trying to wake up.
Sin: I thought you were a morning person.
Lavender: Only when I have a lot going on in my head—or a packed schedule. Currently, I’m enjoying my summer time. I’ll worry about work next week.
Sin: What’s next week? Are you heading back to New York?
Lavender: No, my lawyer will be meeting with Theodoric’s legal team. It makes me wonder if I need a team too.
Sin: I’ll have Raffa contact your lawyer. Send me the details.
Lavender: Who is Raffa?
Sin: My brother, Raffaello.
