Lavender: Not for the first two weeks. The campers that’ll be here for the second session will be overnight.
Sin: Ugh, I bet they made those decisions while I was away. Why the change, do you know?
Lavender: The cabins on the Harris property won’t be ready until then. Paul and Kingston have been dealing with that part—at least that’s what they’re saying.
Sin: What does that mean?
Lavender: I think King is your brother’s dirty little secret.
Sin: Paul and King? Nah, he’s not gay.
Lavender: Bisexual?
Sin: Not that I know of.
Lavender: You two aren’t close, so you wouldn’t actually know, would you?
Sin: I guess not. Should I ask?
Lavender: Nope. I think you have to wait until he’s comfortable enough to share it with you.
Sin: You just told me.
Lavender: Technically I didn’t. I had no idea he was in the closet. I feel bad about telling you this, but glad I didn’t mention it to anyone else.
Sin: So what do I do?
Lavender: Nothing. You just tell him that you support him and love him and . . . No, actually show him that he can trust you. That’s how you start the conversation.
Sin: This family thing is hard.
Lavender: As hard as making deep connections with women before the first date?
Sin: Probably.
Lavender: You should try therapy.
Sin:I don’t have time.
Lavender: Find the time. It’ll help you with the emotional constipation—why didn’t I think about suggesting it before?
Sin: I promise to look into it. For now I have to go into a meeting.
Lavender: TTYS
Chapter Thirteen
Sin: You ignored my texts all weekend.
Lavender: My sister came to visit with her family. Maybe it’s a good thing that you’re away.
Sin: Lou informed me when I didn’t hear from you. Apparently your nephews are now best friends with my niece and nephew.
Lavender: Sorry, I was enjoying the time with my family. Yes, they’re besties now and we spent a lot of time decorating cookies at your grandma’s bakery. Now she wants me to help her organize theSummer Festival.
Sin: What is that?
Lavender: Not sure, but thankfully, Bishop and McKay are stepping up and offered to do it this year. They did say that next year might be your turn.
