“It’s kind of an emergency.” Tears start running down my cheek. I wish I wasn’t making such a fool out of myself in front of this dashing, sexy stranger. But the conversation with my mom and the idea of letting my best friend down on her wedding day is too much for me to keep bottled up inside. “I need to get some stuff for the bride, but we’re in the middle of nowhere and there’s not a store in sight and the ceremony’s starting soon and it’s all my fault and I’m going to ruin Kate’s wedding and she’s never going to forgive me and I’ll end up all alone living in a house full of cats just like my mom says I will.”
He pulls me close. His huge, strong arms wrap around my body and hug me tight. For the first time in a long time, I feel safe. Protected. Aroused
I could stay like this forever.
“Don't worry,” he says. “Everything’s going to be okay.”
"You promise?"
"I promise," he says, whispering in my ear. "Cross my heart and hope to die."

I pull awayfrom the hug before the hardness building in my pants makes things awkward.
This damsel in distress might just be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. The last thing I want to do is scare her away.
She tells me her name and lays out her problem for me. It takes. moment, but then an idea pops into my head.
“Come on,” I say, “let’s go.”
I take her around the back of the building and she follows me into the forest.
It’s only when we start walking past trees, that she says anything. “Hey, where are we going? I told you, I need a store.”
I turn around and look down at her gorgeous, cherubic face. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to lead her somewhere quiet. Somewhere secluded.
I can’t think of anything else except picking her up and fucking her.
“You don’t need a store,” I tell her. “Everything you need is right here. All you have to do is know where to look.”
At first, she’s skeptical, but once I show her what I mean, a huge smile spreads across her face.
“This is perfect.” She bends down and plucks a pretty little flower with blue petals from the ground. “Something blue.”
“And what about this?”
There’s a little clump of white pebbles at the base of a nearby tree.
I was always fascinated by them as a child. They look like something that should be on a beach, not in the middle of the mountains.
I pick one up and show it to Eden.
She takes it in her hand and runs her finger along the smooth surface. “It’s beautiful,” she says. “And it’s in the shape of a heart.”
“That thing’s a billion years old, at least. You think that counts as old?”
She smiles at me and it’s like the whole world gets a tiny bit brighter.
I can’t believe I’ve lived my whole life without this woman in it.
“Sure do,” she says. “Now what about something borrowed, and something new?”
I take her hand and lead her further into the trees. There’s a beautiful flower about head height that’s just started to blossom. I pick the best-looking one and give it to her. She puts her nose to it and breathes in deep.
“So good,” she giggles.
