“See, the thing is, my brain and my body weren’t on the same page and my brain had a slight freak out when you flipped us around. For some reason it was totally on board with me touching your cock but you touching mine? That made it all very real and I panicked. That’s all it was.”
“I want to believe you but…”
“I want you, Beau. I want all of you. Heart. Soul. Body. Everything.”
“But…” He opened his mouth to throw another roadblock between them but Dawson leaned forward and caught his words with his lips.
Dawson kissed him and oh God, Beau didn’t care if it was only to shut him up. He didn’t care that there was so much more they needed to talk about. All he cared about in that moment was that his best friend was kissing him again and he had thought it would never happen again.
This kiss was softer than the first time. Dawson wasn’t trying to prove a point. He simply kissed Beau, lips moving against one another until Beau responded and then parting to lick his way into Beau’s mouth. Dawson crowded into his space, pressing against him and a groan escaped him when he felt the proof that backed up Dawson’s words.
He wasn’t scared this time.
Beau fell into the kiss, drowned in the taste of Dawson. The man he’d loved for so long wanted to be his. Loved him. Longed for him. It was a dream come true.
A loud bang came from the other side of the door and they jerked apart, startled by the interruption just as it came again, along with a voice, “Dawson? Dawson, are you in there?”
Beau was still warm and tipsy from the kiss but he saw Dawson’s mouth curve. He didn’t move away. He still held Beau right where he was, their bodies pressed together, their mouths nearly even and only a breath apart. He looked straight into Beau’s eyes when he spoke.
“Yeah. I’m here.”
“Well get out here. Your brother wants to start family pictures.” There was a pause and then, “By the way, have you seen Beau?”
Dawson’s grin was truly a sight to behold, “Yeah, I’m looking right at him.”
“Oh!” Ash Beaumont sounded surprised and slightly flustered by that answer. Beau gaped at the man in front of him. His brother recovered quickly though and cleared his throat, “Okay, well, we need you both outside for pictures. ASAP. And you better not be too mussed up. Put yourselves back together and meet me outside.”
The sound of footsteps receeding was the only sound for a long minute and then Beau let out the breath he hadn’t realzed he’d been holding, “Oh my God.”
“What?” Dawson was still grinning.
“I can’t believe you told my brother we were in here. You know what he assumed we were doing in here, right?”
“Exactly what we were doing, and would still be doing if we hadn’t been interrupted?” Dawson leaned forward and brushed his lips over Beau’s one more time. “God, kissing you is like a drug. I can’t get enough now that I’ve had a taste.”
Beau shook his head, bewildered by the change in his best friend and his easy acceptance of this shift in their relationship, “You all but told my brother we’re together and you know he’s going to go out there and tell the rest of them.”
“Good. Saves me the trouble of announcing it to the family.” Dawson shrugged, “Besides, most of them already thought we were a couple.”
“You’ve lost your mind.”
“Nope. Just my heart. And I know exactly where it is.” Dawson stole another kiss and then stepped back, “We better get out there but we’ll talk more later right? After the ceremony?”
Beau opened his mouth but nothing came out. He nodded. Dawson winked and then adjusted his pants. He fixed his tie and smoothed his jacket. Then he turned and walked out of the bathroom with his head held high and with all the self-confidence that came with being a Frost.
Beau could do nothing more than watch him go in absolute wonder because this day was turning out to be nothing like how he’d expected.
Chapter Seven
Dawson was starting to get annoyed. No, scratch that. He was definitely annoyed because he was pretty much convinced that Beau was avoiding him.
They’d played it cool during family pictures. Ash hadn’t said anything about finding them in the bathroom together and nobody had said a word about their swollen lips. Today wasn’t about them and Dawson knew that so he’d kept his mouth shut and his hands to himself, acting as though everything was fine when inside, his stomach was doing somersaults.
He’d done it. He’d confronted Beau. He’d kissed him. He’d told him that he loved him and wanted to be with him. He’d thought they were finally on the same page but if that was the case, why was Beau avoiding him?
They’d been pulled in opposite directions after Felix and Gibson said I do. Dawson had been forced to take more family photos. The rest of the guests had gone inside to start eating. When he’d finally finished with his groomsman duties, he’d gone in search of Beau but he hadn’t found him in the dining room or the living room or the kitchen.
He ducked back outside, barely escaping the clutches of a talkative executive from Frost Financial and glanced around again, desperately searching for Beau. There were a few people who had gone back out into the cold to smoke and a few others who were in small groups talking amongst themselves. He recognized Bran and Julian curled against one another in the shadows but they didn’t look up and he didn’t move towards them. He didn’t see Beau amongst any of the other groups so he turned to head back inside but movement on the balcony caught his eye.
