The two of them just fit. The attraction had been there between them from the start but it was more than that. Despite all the reasons she shouldn’t, her heart yearned for Tyler as much as her body did and being with him felt like completing a puzzle that she hadn’t known was missing a piece.

She found herself smiling as she rinsed shampoo from her hair. She was happy. Tyler made her happy. It had been so long since she’d taken joy in the little things in life that she couldn’t seem to contain it and she didn’t want to.

The flimsy shower curtain jerked aside and she squealed as a big body stepped in behind her. Tyler chuckled at her surprise, pulling the curtain shut behind him and then edging under the spray with her. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her softly before pulling back to give her that sexy, trademark smirk of his.

“What’re you in here thinking about that has you grinning like that?”

“You.”

He slid a big hand to her ass and squeezed, “Good answer.”

“It’s true.” She arched against him, her body already sensitive from the night before, beginning to sizzle from his simple touch.

“Oh yeah?” He leaned down and used his tongue to lick a line of water from her neck.

“Mhmm.” she hummed contentedly, letting her eyes drift shut again, “I was thinking of all the ways you’ve helped me check items off my bucket list.”

He nuzzled her neck as he kneaded her butt-cheeks, “We’ve crossed off almost everything and we’ll be in Vegas by tonight if we drive straight through.”

The thought popped her happiness like a pin to a balloon. Tyler must have sensed it too because he pulled her against him, holding her to his chest as the shower rained water down on them. She tucked her head against his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Is it really almost over?” she murmured softly.

Tyler brushed her wet hair back off her shoulders, “It doesn’t have to be.”

“No?” She leaned back enough to look at him, desperate to see that he meant the words and the seriousness in his blue eyes confirmed that he was as reluctant for their journey to end as she was.

“I was thinking…” he sighed, playing with her hair, “Have you ever seen the Grand Canyon?”

A small smile tilted her lips, “Actually, no. I haven’t. Not in person at least.”

“It’s amazing, truly one of the incredible wonders of this world. It would be a shame to be so close and not go take a look.”

“Are we close to it?”

He shrugged one big shoulder, “It’s a couple hours detour, would probably add a full day, maybe even two to our trip if we took the time to sightsee while we were there.”

“That sounds…” Her throat felt tight as his offer truly sank in and she nodded. “I think I should add visiting the Grand Canyon to my bucket list.”

He smiled softly, brushing his lips over hers, “God I was hoping you’d say that.”

He kissed her gently and she melted into his touch. Knowing that he was no more ready for their trip to end than she was felt like a balm to her impending broken heart. Their trip would still end. They’d get to Vegas soon and then she’d have to start making real decisions about her future and about the past that she’d run away from in Nashville. But she wasn’t ready to deal with the real world yet and spending an extra day or two in Tyler’s arms, taking in the beauty of the world around them, seemed like perfection. He broke the kiss to trail his lips down her jaw and she moaned.

“There’s one other thing still on my list actually…” She couldn’t help but grin as he pulled back to look at her, dark brows furrowing.

“I thought we’d crossed everything off?”

“We did, but there’s a slight problem.” She bit her bottom lip and looked up at him from beneath her lashes, “See, you don’t count as a one-night stand anymore.”

He growled. He actually growled. And Ashtyn broke into unrestrained laughter as he pushed her back against the cool tile wall of the enclosed shower and boxed her in with his big body.

“Don’t even think about it.” His voice was rough and possessive, sending heat straight to her core.

“Oh, I would never.” she teased, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer. “But I was thinking maybe I could take that off the list.”

“About damn time.” he grunted, shifting forward until she could feel his thick erection against her belly.

“Maybe I should add something else I’ve never done instead.”
