Part of her wanted to stay there, locked in that hotel room with him and nobody else so they could ‘celebrate’ over and over again. But he was right, and they owed it to Lottie and Braden to make an appearance.
So she let him help her back into her dress and she slipped into the bathroom to fix her hair and makeup, at least to the best of her abilities. When she was somewhat presentable again, they headed back toward the elevators to make their way downstairs to the party.
Luckily, dinner was in full swing by the time they got there, and they only received a few raised brows as they snuck toward their table. Silver grinned as Ruby gently lowered herself to the thankfully well-padded chair.
“You okay?” Silver murmured, lifting her water glass to her lips as she cocked a brow in Ruby’s direction.
“My ass aches, and I am considering burning all of the world’s ginger farms to the ground, but other than that I’m good. Better than good.” Blinking back yet another wave of tears, she grinned at her friend. “I’ve never been happier than I am right this second, Sil.”
“Good. Now let me see that damn ring.”
Giggling like a schoolgirl, she held out her hand so Silver could sigh over the sparkling ring. “It’s gorgeous. And perfect for you. Just like our Bex.”
“You know he hates that nickname,” Ice said with a chuckle, his hand coming to rest on the nape of Silver’s neck.
“I really do.” Beckett’s voice was a low growl. “And for every time one of you brats says it tonight, I’m adding another stroke to Ruby’s strapping at the club.”
Need and fear slammed into her, a delicious cocktail that sent her heart racing and her head spinning. “Hey! What strapping?”
“Don’t you remember?” Taking her hand in his, he lifted the ring he’d placed there to his lips. “I still owe you for making us late this morning.”
“But you already spanked me! You can’t spank me again!”
A wide, wicked grin stretched across his face as he leaned in, his voice dropping so only she could hear.
“Wanna bet?”
