Security greeted him before they let us in. My mother already told us that she was in the bathroom. I moved in that direction. There was a line outside of the bathroom. Some girl banged on the door. “What’s up?”

Some abominable snowman looking bitch turned to me with a mean mug.She should never make that face again.“Some crazy bitch locked haself in da bathroom. She not lettin’ no one in.”

I moved her to the side. I lightly knocked on the door. “Love, it’s me Erygon. Open the door for me, baby.”

There was a moment of silence before I heard the lock disengage. The door slowly opened, and I saw her beautiful face. Her eyes were puffy, and her nose seemed irritated. When she realized it was me, she pulled the door open then rushed into my arms. “Erygon, she left me. Why would she do that?”

I held her tightly and rubbed her back. I kissed her temple. “I’m so sorry. I got you now.”

Her head left my chest. “Maybe she was mad because I told her that I didn’t really like it here. Do you think she thought I didn’t like her?”

“Nah, this isn’t about you. Let me get you home.” I didn’t let her go until she nodded that she was ready.

All eyes were on us as we moved through the hallway. Lovina didn’t let go of my waist while we walked to my truck. I helped her into my truck, then closed the door.

“Yo, who the fuck left her here? Why the hell was she here?” Beyon asked. He was confused, which was understandable.

I glared at him. “Hope’s fuckin’ ass. I’on know what the fuck she on or why she even asked her to come out. She knows this ain’t Lovina’s vibe.”

His eyes bugged. “What the fuck? Yeah, that confirms what I always thought. That bitch still wants you. She’s been playing her role. Now she see you likin’ someone more than just some fuck shit.”

I shook my head because I didn’t know what I thought about what he said. I never got a vibe that Hope wanted me on that level again. We never had drama. How quick that would change after I got Lovina home and settled.

It took two additional hours to get Lovina settled before she fell asleep. My mama didn’t want her to be in her apartment alone, so she stayed in the guest room. My mama made sure she ate before she went to bed.

It wasn’t until we got to my mother’s house that I noticed what Lovina wore and her curly hair. This woman was beautiful in every aspect of the definition. The outfit that she wore was becoming of her. It still fit her modesty flow but gave off sex appeal. I would never tell her that last part. I didn’t want to scare my baby back to Pennsylvania.I really need to get this baby thing together.

I took a shower before I left my mama’s house to go to Hope’s house. Beyon rode shotgun. “Aye, don’t go in here wide open. If you want to get answers, you got to keep it cool,” Beyon suggested.

When we stopped at a stoplight seconds after he made that ludicrous statement, my head turned slowly in his direction. If there was a camera rolling, ominous music would have played to set the scene. “I know you fuckin’ lying to me.” I put my finger up. “You know what, I’m gonna handle it your way. Ayriss is at my mama’s house, so if shit gets hot, I don’t have to worry about her.”

I felt him stare at the side of my head as I pulled off. I would behave. Less than fifteen minutes later, we pulled up to Hope’s house. The additional cars in the driveway let me know her homegirls were there. The engine of my truck hadn’t turned off before I opened my door.

My breathing was shallow as I walked up to the door. The closer I got to the door, the louder the music got. They left Lovina in a lounge by herself and were in here on some party shit?Yep, fuck that behave shit!

My leg lifted, foot went to the door, and it was over.Boom!I kicked that ho straight off the damn hinges. Beyon mumbleddamnbehind me.

A bunch of screaming bitches was all I heard. “What the fuck are you doing? Erygon, have you lost your damn mind!”

“Nah, bitch, have you lost your fuckin’ mind?” I walked into her face. The fear was real because I had never come at her like this. “I never looked at you like you was a flawed ass bitch, but now I’m not so sure. You leaving people at clubs like a sketchy ass bitch.”

Her friends stood back hugging each other like overly dramatic puppies in a corner. Hope’s mouth was agape. Her ass didn’t blink. “Are you serious?” she finally asked. “You’re coming at me, the mother of your child, over a lil Amish girl?”

I took a step back to gain some self-control because right now I wanted to knock her head between the couch and end table. I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Watch your fuckin’ mouth,Hope. Explain to me why your ass felt the need to invite Love to a lounge knowing she’s not into that shit, then leave her ass. What funny shit you on?”

“Oh my God! It is not that damn serious. She went to the bathroom, I had an emergency, so I told the waitress to tell her that we were leaving. Nothing was gonna happen to her ass.” Her attitude was way too lackadaisical for me.

I tittered quietly. “So, your dumb ass couldn’t go a few steps to the fuckin’ bathroom to get her?” I put my face uncomfortably close to hers. “Stop fuckin’ playin’ with me, Hope. You might have forgotten how I come behind mine. Trust me, you don’t want me to remind you.”

“Wow, you’re really coming at me?” She pointed at herself. “A woman you’ve known for years, were in a relationship and had a child with.” Her arms crossed over her voluptuous breasts.

My head tilted to the side. “Hope, stop fuckin’ playing with me like we had some overly romantic love story. We were in a relationship for six months, you got pregnant, and we tried to hang on for our baby. We didn’t even make it to her first birthday. We didn’t even spend time like that together when we were together. You’re making it seem like we sat under the stars and talked about life. I was a street nigga who was transitioning out.”

“We could have spent more time together, but you were always in a book or some shit. All that shit was more important. Now that you have time for a relationship, that’s the bitch you want it with? You want some Amish bitch when I’m right here!”

My head slowly turned to Beyon who wore a knowing smirk. I guess he was right. All these years, she played her role with the hopes that I would somehow come back to her.

“Hope, you sound crazy as hell. This ain’t one of those romance, hood books you read. If you really was on that, then your ass should have been doing what you had to do to be abetter fit. We broke up because we weren’t a . . . Why the fuck am I going through this shit with you, again? The bottom line of this pop up is for me to tell you don’t fuckin’ come near me or Love, talk to us, or none of that shit. Only conversation me and you need to have is when it comes to our daughter.”
