“You know there’s a right way and a wrong way to eat a Flake,” Jonty said just before the chocolate touched Devan’s lips.
“And my way.” Devan was so quick, Jonty didn’t have time to pull back the bar, but Devan barely nibbled the end. “Another of the things I do slowly.”
“You eat chocolate slowly?” Jonty gaped at him. “You’re not normal. What else do you do slowly?”
“Driving, when the police are around. I linger in the shower. I like to take my time over food.”
“Is that look you’re giving me because you’d like to eat me?”
“You or that Flake. Tricky choice.”
Devan licked his lips and Jonty groaned. “That’s not fair. Now I’m going to look like a pig when I shove it all in.”
“You told me you couldn’t get it all in at one go. How long is it? Fifteen centimetres? Six inches? I’m a bit disappointed you can’t manage that. More than a bit. Very.”
Jonty laughed. He put the Flake to his mouth and slid it in as slowly as he could before drawing it out and nibbling off no more than Devan had taken. “I’ve licked most of it. I suppose you won’t want another bite. Sorry.”
Devan laughed. “No, you’re not. And considering where I’d like to put my tongue, you licking the Flake is not an issue.” He took a bigger bite. “See if it will fit now. But don’t choke. I have other plans for your mouth.”
Jonty put the Flake in his mouth and touched the other end of the bar to Devan’s lips. Devan opened his mouth and let the chocolate slide in until his lips were against Jonty’s.
Jonty bit down and moved back, chewing slowly. “Mmm…mmm…mmmmm.” He swallowed and groaned. “So good. Best thing ever. Nothing to beat it.”
One push on his shoulder, and Jonty dropped onto his back. Devan lay on his side next to him. “You are bad.”
Jonty pouted. “But in a good way?”
“Remains to be seen,” Devan whispered. “I have told myself to leave you alone so many times.”
“How many times?”
“I didn’t count. A lot.”
“You don’t take any notice of yourself then?”
“Parts of me are hard to convince.” Devan ran his finger over the piercings in Jonty’s ear, then the one in his eyebrow. “You’re my Flake.”
Jonty blinked.What?
“Tempting. Delicious. I want to eat you all in one go. But…” Devan sighed.
“Oh God. There’s always a but. It’s usually something bad. Though occasionally, it’s a good thing. You have a very nice butt, as in arse.” Jonty could feel anxiety nibbling at his stomach. “I paused because that’s where you’re supposed to say that I do. Please don’t say I don’t have a nice backside. That would destroy me. I’d never go out in public again. I’d have to hide myself away and only emerge in case of fire.”
“But…” Devan said.
“A failure at distraction too? I’m doomed. Okay. Tell me then. But what?”
“This can’t go anywhere.”
Jonty made sure to keep the disappointment off his face. Heknewthat. Of course he fucking knew that, but he didn’t want to hear it. Not right at the start. Except Devan was telling him there shouldn’t be a start if Jonty wanted the bit in the middle beforeThe End.
Why not know where things stand?
Because I want to hope. I always want to hope for more, even if I pretend not to. Why shouldn’t I hope? His heart ached.
Sometimes thereisno hope. Look at me.
I’ve not given up on you.
