“Only your jacket? Don’t stop there.” Jonty licked his lips. Then licked them again. “I just did my whale call and caught you. I told you my expectations weren’t unrealistic. Don’t disappoint me.”

“How about we eat. I should tell you that if you don’t hand me a chicken, I am going to carry you to the sea and dump you in the water.”

Jonty emptied the bag. There were crisps, sandwiches, sausage rolls, a flask of something and a punnet of strawberries.

“Shit! The chicken’s done a runner. You want to go back and see if you can catch it?”

“No. What’s in the flask?”

“Beer, though it might taste like coffee. I even put sugar in for you. The sandwiches are brie and cranberry sauce or tuna and mayo.”

As they sat and ate, they stared at the sea. Gannets were diving for fish and the seals were still out there. Devan gave a quiet sigh.

“Isn’t this perfect?” Jonty whispered.

Yes, because you’re here next to me.“No whales.” Devan huffed.

“And no big dicks. Yet.”

Devan wanted to fuck him, wanted to make him see stars, lose control, cry out his name. But not here. Sand would get into places he’d rather not have it. No way of getting cleaned up. Not very romantic thoughts, but…

But…

Maybe…

“Do you come here often?” Devan asked.

Jonty turned a shocked face towards him. “That’s a terrible pick up line. I’m devastated you didn’t come up with something better than that. Something like—well, here I am. What are your other two wishes?”

Devan smiled.

“Try again.” Jonty poured black coffee into two plastic cups and picked up a sausage roll.

Devan took a deep breath. “Apart from hearing about Brad, and finding myself talking about Ravi, this is the best day I’ve had for over two years. Maybe a lot longer than that.”

Jonty stared at him with the sausage roll sticking out of his mouth. He bit down hard and chewed fast. “It’s only lunchtime. It could all go downhill.”

“I’m sure you have something exciting planned for this afternoon.”

“True, and it’s something for which clothes are not required.” Jonty took his jacket off. “Now your turn.”

Devan took off his shoes and socks. The sun was beating down out of a cloudless sky. It wasn’t a hot day, but it was warm out of the wind. Jonty took his shoes and socks off too.

When Devan held a strawberry to Jonty’s lips, he opened his mouth wide and Devan held on while Jonty nibbled it. With the last bite, he sucked Devan’s fingers, and Devan’s pulse sped up.

“Feed me, Seymour,” Jonty whispered.

Two more strawberries, a lot more sucking and Devan had a tent in his jeans. He unfastened his shirt and slipped it off. Jonty’s eyes widened and his mouth fell open.

“Oh God,” Jonty muttered. “You’re either insanely lucky or you’re a gym bunny.”

“That’s your best pickup line?”

“I think that would befuck me, there’s no chicken.”

“You do know that you’re going in the water,” Devan said.

“Can I try to dissuade you?”
