The guy hadn’t even asked Devan if he knew his address. Devan had the uncomfortable feeling he’d made a mistake.

WHEN THEY WALKED BACK INTOthe hotel with Dottie, Ravi was standing in reception talking to Vincent. Jonty swore under his breath and Devan sighed.

“Jonty, take Dottie to the major,” Vincent said.

Jonty picked up the dog and headed for the stairs.

“I want him sacked,” Ravi snapped.

“I want you gone,” Devan snapped back.

“Would you both please come into the office.” Vincent beckoned them.

Devan took off his wet jacket.

“Do you know what that jumped up little shit did?” Ravi demanded as Devan pushed the door closed. “Look at my nose!”

“It’s no bigger than it usually is.” Devan had chosen his words carefully and saw from the expression on Ravi’s face that he’d hit his target.

“Yes. It. Is.” Ravi glared at him.

Ravi had often talked about having a nose-job because he thought his nose was too large, but he didn’t want to lose income by not being able to work for the several months it took to heal, so he’d moaned a lot, but never done anything about it.

“It’s fine,” Devan said.

“Are you blind?” Ravi gasped. “It’s probably broken.”

“Then why aren’t you at a hospital?”

“I want the idiot who did it punished. It hurts.” Ravi gingerly touched his nose. “I want him sacked.”

“Not going to happen.” Devan shrugged. “You pulled him into the hot tub.”

Ravi widened his eyes. “You believe him over me? We’ve known each other for over two years and you’ve known him less than a week.”

“Amazing, isn’t it?” Devan stared straight at him.

“Let’s see if we can settle this amicably,” Vincent said.

“Sack him.” Ravi’s lips quirked in a semi-smile. “Or I’ll call the police and open my mouth. You don’t want that, do you?”

Devan knew exactly what Ravi was threatening to do. Open his mouth about the hotel sale. You are such a fucking bastard.Devan felt as if he’d never known Ravi at all.

“Look,” Vincent said. “I’m very sorry about what happened. I’ve not been able to speak to the guest who you say saw what happened. She’s checked out. But I find it difficult to understand why Jonty would want to hit you and why he’d risk falling into the hot tub. He has one suit. It’s ruined. His shoes too. He cut his head. Why would he punch you on the nose? Jonty’s not a violent person. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him lose his temper. He probably slipped.”

“He cut his head?” Devan swallowed.

“Not badly,” Vincent said. “It bled a lot, but head wounds do.”

“Nowhere near as bad as my nose. He was pissed off because the first mojito he made me was undrinkable and I made him go and make me another. He was also angry with me because Devan and I are close. He’s jealous and lashed out.”

“Ravi.” Devan gritted his teeth in exasperation. “You’re embarrassing yourself. Go home.”

“I’m booked in here tonight and tomorrow.”

“We’ll refund the whole of your stay,” Vincent said quickly.

“Sack him or this will be all over Twitter and Instagram. I have more than a million followers.”
