“Look what you’ve done.” Cato pulled Vigge’s hand to where his dick bulged.

Vigge groaned and tugged his hand free. “You’ll have to deal with that. I have to go. It’s been a very long day and I’m exhausted.”

“Stay then and leave early tomorrow.”

He shook his head. “I’ll see you on Saturday.”

“I’ll send you an instructional video to remind you of me. But it will be NSFW.”

“Don’t you dare.”

Cato grinned. “You used the worddare. You don’t know me at all.”

“I’m getting to know you. I’m enjoying unwrapping you one layer at a time.”

One kiss. One swift, sweet kiss, a slip of a tongue beneath his, and Vigge left. Cato stood in his room wondering what had hit him.

He dropped onto his bed. He was tired too and couldn’t face the thought of actually talking to anyone in his family, so he went onto the family WhatsApp and typed in—Hi everyone. A long day. Interview was fine. Lots of competition and more interviews to go.Should he hint that he might not take it if it was offered? He deleted what he’d typed and tried again.Hi everyone. Not sure about the job. Might not be the one for me.He was happier with that and pressed send. Within seconds, Devan was calling him. Since Cato thought he’d rather speak to him than anyone else in his family, he answered.

“Hi, Dev.”

“Are you preparing the parents for you turning this job down or is it really not the one for you?”

“A bit of both. Maybe. Dunno. Not sure.”

Devan sighed. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

His brother laughed. “There clearly is. The offer to come up here still stands. Jonty with a sledgehammer is a frightening sight but highly entertaining.”

“I heard that!” Jonty shouted.

“He aimed for one wall and hit another, as well as his foot.” Devan chuckled.

“The sledgehammer was heavier than I’d thought and you’re lucky I didn’t hit you.”

“Now there’s a wall to repair as well as everything else,” Devan said.

“I think it looks nice with a hole. You know how when old buildings are being renovated, they keep original features as a reminder? Well, I was thinking we could put a frame around the mistake and call itJonty’s Hole. Could we? Please?”

“No,” Devan said.

Cato smiled. Listening to his brother and Jonty both amused and soothed him, and when the call ended, he felt brighter. So when another call came, even though it was Max, this time he answered it.

“Hi,” Cato said.

“How did it go?”

“Of what interest is it to you?”

“Cato! Don’t. You were the one who left. I can’t turn my feelings on and off. I care about you. I still love you. That will never change.”

But you love Louise more. And I don’t love you. Not anymore.

“Constructive dismissal,” Cato muttered.

“Yeah, I get it,” Max said. “I know we hurt you. But I need to see you.”
