“Teacher?”

“I do some teaching yes, but I’m not actually a teacher.”

So, was he studying something? “Do you get paid?”

“Yes, but not much. That counts as a question.”

“What are you most passionate about?”

Cato smiled. “Clever, but I’m only giving yes and no answers, then embellishing them a little. So I won’t count that one. You’ve had three so far.”

Vigge thought for a moment. “Does your work have anything to do with death?”

“Yes.”

“I just can’t see you as an undertaker or pathologist or coroner. Or a murderer.”

Cato grinned. “Call yourself a policeman! Don’t judge a book by its cover. Though to be honest, I do. Crap cover, and I don’t even look at the back of the book.”

“Are you an astronomer?”

“Ah. No. Not exactly.”

Then it was something to do with space and stars. Cato was too old for a first degree, maybe too old for a doctorate, but… “Are you doing a doctorate in…astrophysics?”

“Bloody hell.” Cato gaped at him. “They should promote you, I-got-it-in-six, Police Constable Vigge.”

“They did promote me. I’m a Detective Inspector.”

“And you’re only two years off retirement. That’s amazing.”

“Yes, isn’t it?”

The traffic had slowed up again and he stopped well back from the car in front. Cato took a bottle of water from the bag, had a drink, then offered it to him. Vigge felt Cato watching as he put the bottle to his lips and tipped his head back. He tried not to think about how a moment before, Cato’s lips had been where his were. When his cock swelled, he had to bite back his groan.

“Thanks.” Vigge handed him the bottle and Cato flipped down the top.

“Were you in the north on police business?” Cato asked.

“No.”

“Staying with family?”

“Yes.”

“Any more questions for me?” Cato asked.

“Just how kinky are you?”

Cato laughed. “Kinkier than you can handle, I suspect.”

“Was that a challenge?”

“Do you want it to be a challenge?”

Vigge chuckled and pulled back onto the M6, joining the procession south.Didhe want it to be a challenge? Because of his job, he had to be careful.

“Are you out at work?” Cato asked.
