Nix laughed. “You’re easily deterred. Tell me what you want.”

Emmett licked his upper lip. “You want me to say it?”

“How are you going to get what you want otherwise? Am I supposed to read your mind?”

“I thought I’d just wait for you to make a move. Like you did the first time.”

“What if I’m doing the same thing?”

“But you never wait. You just take. Food, wallets…mouths.”

Emmett frowned and Nix wanted to run his tongue down that little groove in his forehead. This wasn’t a good idea. Emmett hadn’t needed to come up here with him. He should have gone back to the flat because now Nix was tempted. A kiss would lead to more because it would be like touching a flame to tissue paper.

“Do you ever stop thinking?” Emmett whispered. “It’s as bad as talking, even if it’s in your head. I know because I think too much. Except now you’re doing it too and it’s worse than talking because I have no idea what you’re thinking.”

“Only about shutting you up.”

“Do a bit more thinking then, abouthowto shut me up.”

Nix stared at Emmett’s lips. “I’ve thought and it’s not a good idea.”

“Only if you fall asleep in the middle of it. I’ll stop you doing that.”

Nix sighed.

“We havenow,” Emmett whispered. “Thisis our forever. I don’t want to waste it. And I’m damned well not going to forget it.”

“You hope.”

“Then make me not forget.”

“So you can blame me if you do?”

Emmett smiled. “If I don’t remember you, how can I blame you?”

“I have nothing useful in my wallet for this vaguely discussed moment that probably shouldn’t happen.”

Emmett pouted and Nix’s cock perked up. “You don’t have enough money to pay me? Ack, forget the question mark. Youdon’thave enough money to pay me.” He rolled off the bed and Nix thought for one awful moment he was leaving, but he pulled open the drawer of a bedside table.

“Shite,” Emmett hissed.

“What’s in there?”

“Nothing. Fuck! I was convinced this was a house of ill-repute and Tar was a pimp.” Emmett gulped. “Pretend I didn’t say that. A badly thought-out joke.”

“Shower.” Nix started to strip.

Emmett was faster. Nix was still in his socks and shorts as Emmett disappeared into the bathroom.

Nix came up to the door. “A wet room.” He was impressed. There was a double vanity unit with stone basins, a shelf of toiletries, a bottle of lube at Emmett’s feet…Oh…

“Admiring the facilities?” Emmett asked.

Nix looked up and laughed. Emmett posed leaning over with his arse towards him.

“Clearly unappreciated. Far too slow,” Emmett announced, then straightened and smiled at him as he turned on the shower.

Water poured out of a large rectangular showerhead and Emmett stood blinking in the tropical downpour. Nix’s heart lurched. Three strides before their mouths met. More than met. There was a rushing in Nix’s ears as they plastered themselves together. Emmett’s tongue was deep in his mouth and Nix’s knees were shaking. He held Emmett tight, their arms wrapped around each other as they kissed. Nix didn’t want to lose him, and maybe this was all they’d get. Each time could be the last. No matter what they wanted, they were doomed to a life apart. Emmett was right. Thiswastheir forever.
