“Okay.”

Emmett pushed to his feet and washed his hands. He wasn’t sure what it was that made him throw himself to one side but as he collided with the table, Mo slashed at him with Greyson’s knife. The knot of anger in Emmett changed to a towering inferno of fury. He grabbed a chair and swung it at Mo, who dodged out of the way.

“Want to pass on a message to my mother?” Mo snarled, eyes glowing red and not sounding like Mo at all. “Tell her she’s a fucking cunt and I wish she was dead. Tell her I’ll see her inJahannam.”

Emmett went at him then, driving the chair into him until he managed to knock the knife from Mo’s hand. Emmett brought the chair down hard and knocked Mo onto the floor. As he reached for the knife, Emmett dropped on top of him and pinned his wrists.

“Move on. You’re not part of this world.”

Mo struggled beneath him, but Emmett kept him down. He was writhing and yelling expletives, and suddenly so physically strong that Emmett was shocked he was able to hold him, but there was no way he was going to let him get free.

“There is nothing for you here. Outside of this flat you can touch no one. What life is that? Go now.”

Emmett was almost surprised when Mo stopped struggling, then he was gone and Emmett gasped, all his energy gone. But he couldn’t waste time recovering. He looked for his phone and called Tar.

“Speak.”

“I need help. Now. At the flat,” Emmett whispered.

He sagged. What a mess. If they hadn’t let Mo slip away, then they could have prevented him from being corrupted by Greyson. Now the chances were, the poor guy was going to go to Hell. Assuming he wasn’t actually bad in the first place.Shit.He dropped the phone, turned back to Phoenix and Greyson, to find Greyson stirring. What the hell? This wasn’t a film. People you thought were dead didn’t get up and come after you again.

Except that was what Greyson was doing. Definitely pulling himself together and Emmett needed to do something. Fast. He glanced at the knife Mo had picked up and wrapped his fingers around it. When he felt it vibrate, he almost dropped it. Greyson was pushing himself to his feet and Emmett gulped. He couldn’t let that happen. An electric shiver of awareness raced through him, sending goose bumps skittering across his skin. The guy had to be more than stabbed. He was no longer human. Killing him wasn’t simple.

Emmett took a deep breath and before Greyson recovered any further, Emmett pushed him down and plunged the knife into his heart. Greyson opened his eyes and screamed. Smoke spiralled from his chest and it smelt vile. Emmett stabbed him again. And again.

You know what you have to do.

Oh God, do I?

It wasn’t enough to stab him. Emmett pushed his fist through the mess of flesh below Greyson’s ribs, wrapped his hand around his heart and yanked. When he saw what he held, he threw up.
