“Fine. Be good, Cat.”
“Don’t poop in the flat unless you can flush the loo.”
As they made their way downstairs, Nix looked more carefully at the keys he was holding and frowned. Two definitely weren’t car keys and of the other two, one looked like a car key, the other didn’t.
“Which one is it?” Emmett asked when they faced the vehicles parked under the building. “Press the key and see which one unlocks.”
“I think we have a choice of transport. Nice.” Nix strode over to the BMW bike.
“Oh God,” Emmett muttered. “No way. I thought we’d been given a car. Can you even ride a motorbike?”
“Yep. Used to own one. And we do have a car, but a bike is easier in London.”
Nix looked down at the keys. There was a bank of lockers at the back of the parking area and he tried the key in the one labelled 18. Inside were leathers, gloves, helmets and boots. He handed a set to Emmett and began to change, only for one look at Emmett in his leathers to make his cock unfurl. The guy was hot as shit, except there was a definite touch of fear in Emmett’s eyes as he stared at the bike. Nix almost laughed until he wondered if that was how Emmett had died. Maybe the bike had triggered some memory. Nix handed him a helmet.
“These have mics so we can talk,” Nix said.
“Wonderful.” Emmett fastened the helmet. “Try to say something nice.”
“Something nice.”
“Hilarious.” Emmett rammed the helmet on his head.
“Have you been on a bike before?” Nix asked.
“Yes.”
“So you can remember that?”
“I’m not lying about my memories.”
“I didn’t say you were.”
“You implied it.”
Can you be any more obnoxious?“Get off your high horse.”
“I quite like it up here. And I can remember some things about myself, just nothing about me and other people.”
“Maybe you didn’t have any friends.”
“None like you, I’m sure.”
“You poor sod. Oh well, you have me now, you lucky thing. Never too late.”
Emmett huffed. “You’d be the last person I’d choose as a friend.”
“And you think I’d pick you? Make sure you keep hold of the grab bar. I ride hard and fast, and I wouldn’t want you to fall off and break anything important. Do you get the same nine lives as me?”
“Yes. It’s eight really though. Lose nine and we go back. Try not to kill me.”
Nix climbed onto the bike and turned the key. He pushed his phone into the holder and programmed Google Maps for Dewsbury Street while Emmett stood staring at him.
“Coming or not? I’d always prefer coming. It’s far more fun.”
Emmett dropped his visor, climbed on and held the grab bar. Nix couldn’t help himself as he set off and he accelerated hard onto Trafalgar Road. Emmett swore and wrapped his arms around Nix’s waist.
“If I come off, you’re coming off with me,” Emmett said.
