Relief visibly floods through her at my words, and she agrees.

As I walk to the other side of the car, I come up with an even better plan.

“Actually, come here,” I tap my legs from the driver’s side and push the seat all the way back.

Angelica gives me a puzzled look.

“Sit on my legs, and I’ll help you drive.”

“Will it work?”

“I don’t know, but it’s worth a try,” I reply.I also wouldn’t mind having her plush ass all over my thighs.

“What if we crash?” Angelica asks.

“Then I’ll buy you another car.”

She rolls her eyes at me.

“Do that again and I’ll bend you over the seat right now and have my way with your ass cheeks.”

She gasps but doesn’t argue and sits on my lap.Too bad.

It works. I spend the next hour teaching Angelica to drive, and the high I get from seeing this woman smile is something I never again plan to deprive myself of.

ANGELICA

“Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.”

—Maya Angelou

Istill can’t believe Evander asked for my hand in marriage, bought me a car, and is now teaching me how to drive. I bite back a laugh, instead settling on a cheeky smile as the exhilaration from driving for the first time still rushes through me.

I bring my car to a halt. There’s a tightness in my chest when I look back at Evan. Though he tries to hide it, the corners of his mouth twitch upward.

“What?” I ask him, biting into my bottom lip to contain my grin.

“You’re beautiful, more so when you’re happy.”

I squeeze the steering wheel with my hands, shifting awkwardly on his lap.

There have been some less thanpleasantthings in my life that have had a negative effect on me. But having an attentiveand caring man like Evander by my side, makes the hard parts seem not as hard anymore.

“No one has done anything like this for me before. Thank you,” I whisper.

He kisses the side of my head and lifts me off him, placing me on the passenger seat.

After a two-hour driving lesson around Cebrene Heights, we head back to the underground garage.

I was scared shitless to go on an actual road with cars and people, but after having practiced for a good hour in the parking lot, Evander assured me that we’d be fine.

When I brought up the fact that sitting on his lap while driving would be illegal, and most definitely a safety hazard, not just for us, but for others too, he just laughed and told me not to worry.

These mob men act like they’re made of stone.

Evan parks the car in its designated spot and turns to look at me.
