“Did we have to come to Batman’s cave for this? What happened to going to a coffee shop? Or the park?”

He laughs softly. “This isn’t the type of meeting that can be held in public.”

I gulp and fully turn to face him now. “Who are you?”

He faces me in return. “An ally,” he responds just as I hear commotion coming from the far end of the room.

My body freezes as I take in the men who have just appeared.

Xander steps through the opening on one side of the wall. He sees me and my companion, and nods in our direction.

When he moves, Dion walks in behind him with Hendrick, and my head immediately whips from him to the man standing next to me.Oh my god. How could I not have seen it before? They look almost identical, and my brain is having a hard time processing this information.

“What? Are you related?” But I already know the answer.

“Princesita! Long time, no see,” Hendrick exclaims. “Welcome to my humble abode. I see you’ve met my brother, Sebastian.”

Sebastian interjects, “Seba for short.” He winks at me.

I run my hands over my face. That sense of familiarity I had came from the resemblance to Hendrick, my former kidnapper.

“What do you want, Hen?”

He smirks at the use of his nickname, and I roll my eyes.

“It’s not whatIwant, mocosa,” he says smugly.

Right at that moment, two more figures appear in the doorway. The first person is wearing a face covering, and the other…steals my breath away.

“Hello,angeloúdi mou.”My little angel.

A jolt of electricity courses through my veins, leaving me momentarily stunned. I haven't seen Evan in the daylight and without a mask in months.

I attempt to contain my nerves, but my heart is beating a mile a second, and I feel like the humongous walls of this cave are closing in on me. “I need to sit,” I say to no one in particular.

I hear shuffling behind me, mixed with Evander’s voice ordering someone to get me a chair, and then I’m seated, a bottle of water in my hand. I shakily bring it to my mouth and take a small sip, the dryness of my throat not disappearing. “What is happening? Why am I here? Who…”

I look at Evan and instantly regret it. I feel flushed, hot.

“Who…is that?” I point to the man next to him.

Evan chuckles quietly and removes the covering, and I muffle an involuntary gasp.

My whole world turns on its axis.Gianis.

I get up in one swift movement, knocking the chair back, and my shock causes me to drop the bottle of water all over the floor.

“No,” I plead. “Evan, please. Don’t do anything stupid. I’ll—”

Gianis cuts me off. “Don’t you dare beg him on my behalf, mikrí mou.” He’s angry, but the softness in his eyes stops me in my tracks.

My hands shake uncontrollably as I try to gather my bearings. I pull on the collar of my shirt, feeling as if I’m suffocating.

Evan looks between us, and I can practically see the fury rolling off him.

“Say another word to her, and I’ll cut your head off, maláka.” He turns to Xander and Dion. “Take him to the basement. I’ll be down shortly.”

Seba picks up the chair behind me and sits. I scowl at him.
