God, I’m free. I need to find Cain right now.
I stumble until I reach the living room. My eyes scan the place, but he’s nowhere to be seen. I turn back, and a loud gasp escapes my lips the moment I bump into someone.
“Hey!”
I can’t think straight; I see Cain, but my mind can’t process it, and I keep yanking myself to break free, but he holds me steady in place. “Katerina! What happened?” He grips my face, forcing me to look at him. “Focus, little rose!”
“He’s after me,” I whisper, my voice trembling.
Bruce shows up, all red and panting from running. Cain’s eyes snap to him as his jaw locks. He lets go of me and turns, facing Bruce.
“Go to your room and lock the door, Katerina.”
Kill. Kill.
My pulse hammers inside my skull.
I want to smash his face against the floor until it’s not a face anymore.
Until it’s just pulp.
Nothing.

“I can explain,” he mutters, raising his hands.
“You had the fucking nerve to lay your hands on her. Onmygirl?”
He takes two steps back, his eyes wide, pulls his gun, and points it at me.
Pathetic.
A low chuckle rattles in my throat. I take a step forward, my head cocking to the side.
“What are you doing?” he falters as the muzzle presses against my chest.
“Do it. I dare you.”
“You’re insane!” he gasps, the gun clanking in his hand.
I grab the barrel and press it against my forehead. “Sanity is irrelevant.” I press it harder. “Do it. Blow my fucking brains out.”
“It’s—I’m?—”
“Kill me, you fucking pussy!” I scream once again, making his eyes flinch.
And then, he makes the mistake I was eagerly waiting for.
He pulls the trigger.
“What just happened?!” he pants, trying to pull the gun from my grip.
I hold my gaze, my head tilting to the side. “You keep making mistakes, Brucey. And tonight, you made two.”
His eyes dart, searching for an escape.
“Mistake number one.” I punch him in the face, causing a loud grunt to escape him. “You really thought you could kill me?” I land a powerful kick to his ribs.
