I still don’t know where we are, and somewhere within I understand we haven’t walked that far, but it doesn’t feel like that.

It feels like I’ve been walking miles.

“Turn here.”

I look to the left, then back at him.

To the right is the road. And the key is still in my hand.

We’re outside a an apartment building but honestly, I wouldn’t put it past this diabolical man to make me cross the road or hail a cab, or something.

“To the left, Vi. Use the key. You better not have dropped it.”

“No.” I take it from my palm where it’s left an impression. “I’m just shocked you didn’t make me cross the road.”

A wicked expression lights his dark eyes. “Do you want to do that? Would it turn you on? We can, if you want, just go back and forth until someone else sees you.”

“No.” I glare.

He grins.

The asshole clearly likes toying with me like this. What makes it worse is I like him toying with me, too.

I climb the steps to the door and put the key in the lock, turning it.

My heart is beating a wild tattoo.

But there’s no one in the foyer.

Like he said, there is both an elevator and a set of stairs.

He studies both. “Lift, I think. Press the button and call it, Vi.”

I do.

And I breathe a silent sigh that it opens immediately. I basically run in, and he follows, leaning against the back wall, looking at me. “Fifth floor.”

I let out a big breath. “Can I have my coat, please?”

“Hell, no. I said you’re walking home naked and that means until you’re in the apartment.”

“This isn’t your apartment building. Or mine.”

He raises a brow. “You want to stay naked until we get to my place? I wasn’t planning on that kind of walk, but whatever floats your boat, Vi.”

“I hate you, Cade,” I mutter.

“No, you don’t. You love every moment of this. Press the button for the fifth floor.”

I do, and the doors start to close.

He’s right. I love every?—

A hand stops the doors closing, and horror hits me as a delivery guy carrying a pizza gets in. He hits the fourth-floor button and then he sees me.

The guy, from Tony’s Best, according to his cap, because I can’t look him in the eye, physically does a body double take. He actually jerks back with each long look.

I can feel where his gaze lands.
