Her parents talk about their holiday and at some point her mum makes her dad drag down a suitcase so she can pull out gifts for them all and show off the souvenirs they’ve collected.
She feels Jack relax beside her, leaning back into the cushions, hears him laugh by her ear, and smells a contentment in his scent she’s rarely observed since he’s been back. She can’t resist glancing at him frequently, her heart brimming when flickers of happiness skip across his face, loving every micro expression he makes, knowing them intimately. He is like a masterpiece she has been studying for most of her life and yet still it wows her. She still finds new miracles in the texture of his skin, the hues of his flesh, the movement of his face. His eyes return to hers too, over and over. And every time it heats her blood, the blue of his eyes so light so airy today she could float away in happiness.
This is what he needed. This is what he always needed. Surrounded by people that adore him. This has always been as much of a home to him as his own and it has felt incomplete without him here.
She scans her eyes over her family, over her mum balancing on the edge of the armchair retelling some tale, her dad’s hand resting on her knee; at her dad enraptured and nodding along with her story; and to Finn sprawled out on the carpet. His eyes meet hers and he smiles, and she knows this is the end of the story.
She rests her head on Jack’s shoulder and he wraps her in closer.
Epilogue
This isn’t exactly what they’d planned. It’s all happened a little more quickly.
“How long do we have to wait?” he says, turning over the box in his hands and scanning his eyes over the instructions.
She removes her thumb nail from her mouth to answer, “Five minutes?”
“Yep, five minutes.”
“Urgh, I think I might die from anticipation before the time is up.” She returns to nibbling her nail.
He sits on the edge of the bath and grabs her hand, tugging her towards him and into his lap.
“Either way, it’s going to be fine.”
“But I’ve only been in this job six months.”
“We’ll make it work.” He nuzzles his mouth into her neck. “We always make it work.”
“We do.” She buries her fingers into his dark curls and rests her lips against his forehead. “Are you timing?”
“Nope. Are you?’
“NO!” She giggles. “Oh fuck it, let’s just look.”
He bounces her on his knee. “Be patient.”
“I can’t.” She jumps up and tiptoes to the sink. “Ahhh, no. I can’t look,” she says, hiding behind her hands.
He twists her to stand between his knees and lifts her chin to meet his eyes. “Are you scared, Omega?”
“No, I’m never scared when I’m with you.”
“I’m not scared either. You’re already my family, Amy, and to be honest I can’t wait to get started making it bigger.”
“Really?”
“Of course, I’ve been dreaming of filling this belly of yours since the moment I caught your scent.” He leans in and lifts her cami top, kissing her tenderly on her stomach. Then he peers up at her, his eyes darkening, and she bites her lip. “Let me fill you up now, little Omega,” he says, wriggling down her underwear. She steps out of her knickers and climbs into his lap, lowering herself down onto his waiting hardness. She’ll never, ever get used to how good this feels. How having him inside her is everything she ever imagined and so much more.
“If it isn’t … if you’re not … I’d want to try,” he says when she’s seated on him fully.
“Oh.” His face is so earnest it makes her heart ache fiercely in her chest.
“Are you ready for that?” His fingers tangle in her hair and he strokes her throbbing gland.
“Yes, I’m ready for it all.”
“Then you’ll let me claim you, Omega?”
